  1. I think you're right stevo, and that is what confuses me most about Yamada sometimes. All great names, but wish he stayed consistent w/ them throughout the years as there are many models that have different names based on time period they were released, neck style or even a combination of the two (i.e. - Wide Blade is the same as the Sumo but some say Goose while others do not when it's a plumbers neck). I also have an older Ibushi 85029 so I think the 85029 denotes more of the head style while the name is, well, just a name? Staying on the topic tho, love the Musahi/85029, and have been looking for one myself. I think stevo beat me out in the eBay auction for that sweet burning copper one ;) haha
  2. Thanks Ash, you addressed my questions perfectly, and now the seed has been planted, damn!! Is the TRPX fw shaft lighter than your normal spec and would you say that is the perfect match or could one of the classics like the Crazy FW 80 suit just as well with the Glorious?
  3. I notice a stronger boring ball flight from my honma TW-U 18* than my modart 19*. that one degree isn't what sends it higher, but more so the face is more angled on the hybrid. for me, in general, pulling the hybrid is better in most off the deck situations unless it's sitting nicely in the short stuff on a shorter par 5, in which case I've found the DI is fabulous - I don't think the ball flight gets more picture perfect. off the tee tho, the DI is the obvious choice between the 2 unless it's a long par 3 and the pin is situated in a position where being short is better, in which case I'd take the hybrid off the tee, since the extra height will give me a better chance of a softer landing. I just got my A-grind 23* hybrid which I'm intending to be my 200yd club so I'll report back once I get it built and have some time with it.
  4. I watched Dustin Johnson easily hit his 6i 235 Yds on the 18th at Pebble in 2010 and was pretty impressed with that. If my 6i was even 200 yds, my bag would look completely different
  5. I agree, nob, very Adams-like in shape. haven't built mine yet but hope to get this thing done soon, very good looking head tho.
  6. Ash, can you compare directly to ryoma f3 in terms of feel, distance, ease of use, sound, etc..?

+1 I concur with your findings Mob, one of the most versatile wedges I've ever used, love how it looks with wear too!
  8. I built them with Nippon Super Peening Orange in stiff. swing weight is D1, which is lighter than what I'm used to. if I keep these, need to likely get the swing weight up a bit.
  9. does the taller face play into performance at all? great comparo pics Chris!

wow, those vega Raw's are mean looking! some really nice stuff here, K, good luck with sale bud ;)
  11. me too :(
  12. I have the Yururi Tataki which is a great wedge with its traditional shape and versatile grind. if you like the raw-like look, these are great options IMO. not too soft and not too hard...I like the shape better than the Raw's or Tour's too. I think if you gave a little more info on what type of wedge you're used to, all the knowledgeable folks here will be able to better suggest something that complements your style of wedge play. Just my $0.02
  13. softer than yururi flatbacks?
  14. I recently shafted my set of Kuro's w/ Nippon SPO and have been trying to decide whether these should stay or go. At first, I didn't get on with them (first short range session) and I thought it must be me since they have gotten such rave reviews, so I took them out for 9 holes. Similar result of just being underwhelmed by them. They are what everyone says: easy to hit, forgiving on mis**ts, long and nice semi-player shape, but for some reason, they just weren't wowing me, and I was seeing some serious bench time for them or perhaps even hitting the eject button.... Well, today was a totally different story, as I took them out to the range and really spent some time getting used to them. The short irons are pretty good, but again, nothing that made really go wow, but then I decided to spend some time with the long irons. As Chris alluded to before, this is where these really shine, IMO. There's just something about looking down at them that gives you a nice clear head to execute a confident swing and man, they are sooo easy to hit and get the perfect boring trajectory. I was hitting long straight shots wherever I aimed, so that is great for me, since long irons tend to be a weak spot in my game. With these, it seems like it'll be point and shoot on the course, so I'm having a change of heart to give these another chance to wow me in a real game.
  15. 70*??!! seems like it might be detrimental to ones nose to hit that! any info on the bounce for those high lofted SW's?
  16. sweet setup...I think a-grind ut should be in your future! I play the modart as well which has proven to be one of the most versatile clubs I've ever owned
  17. very sweet Steven, congrats man! love the dancing Golds Factory on the face, don't see that very often, and the site alignment tool is very intriguing, interested to see how it performs on the course. Happy Rolling!

I used to think the black Chikara's got the best murdered-out award for wedges but I think there's a new champ -- can't stop eyeing these bad boys!

sick looking ash! but I concur, almost too perfect looking to game
  22. Thanks guys for the compliments! Just rolled her on a practice green for the first time and I can tell there's gonna be a long tenure with this one. Just need to get used to the heavier weight of the whole putter in regards to distance control, but overall, not one hop of the ball on every roll I saw today, all super smooth. Horizontal PZ Milling is superb, nice soft feel and gets the ball rolling true (better than cross-milling patterns for me). That being said, I've never tried Gold's Next Gen Milling, but looks similar to other deep circular cross-milling patterns (i.e.- Epon i33 or even some Scotty's)....I'm convinced I should try, but always end up getting my fav LOL Hard to say I roll better putts because of the milling pattern alone, but the thing about the Gold's experience is that each putter comes back as a greater sum of it's parts, so to speak -- from the balance, to the feel off the face, to the roll of the ball and the overall craftsmanship. They really do make every putter better, no matter how good it was in the first place. This makes it hard not to consider sending in every putter you plan on owning long term for a tune.
  23. I vote stinger for overall winner...more consistent dispersion, longer run outs, better feel and more fun
