The NEW Epon Pesonal Iron for 2014
TourSpecGolfer replied to 604_skyline's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
If you look at the top right image it shows a couple of things, the photographer wanted to minimize the look of the offset but in order to do that they needed A LOT of forward press to do so. If the shaft was parallel to the leading edge or first groove you will see the offset in all it's glory. Obviously designed for the Japanese golfer with all the rounded edges. -
The NEW Epon Pesonal Iron for 2014
TourSpecGolfer replied to 604_skyline's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Pics of the actual iron, the offset/face progression is more than the Honma IS-03 iron, top line very thin, bounce is low. The head isn't that small just thin with a round profile overall. -
2014 RomaRo Ray-H Forged Irons Review
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Yup it's a cut out, some brands do that as an easy way to remove some weight moving the CG closer to center or toward the heel. -
Is something wrong with my Ryoma Driver?

If it's purchased through TSG please contact us so we can help. -
Kinda shocked at how many members are liking these.

Are JDM 'made for' shafts the real deal.
TourSpecGolfer replied to Petethepilot's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
If you take these stock shafts and look at the specs they are not the same as their aftermarket counterpart. This means the design has been adjusted and everything else such as materials etc. is only known by the OEM and shaft maker. That doesn't mean any one is better than the other but OEM's do not put aftermarket shafts as standard for the simple reason of price. -
2014 Gold's Factory Live Free or Die Putter
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Still not official pics. Sight line still needs to be added and also 17mm smooth tungsten weights on the sole. -
RomaRo is one of the most well rounded Japanese Golf Brands available today, their entire line up from putters to drivers and grips to apparel and bags is top notch. This is my long term impressions on the 2014 RomaRo Ray H Forged irons their newest and flag ship players CB. First let's break down the basics of what it is, The Ray H is a fusion of a muscle back and cavity back made of Japanese S20C Forged steel. The weight expanding across the cavity helps produce a fair sized sweet spot yet also provides the benefits of cavity back perimeter weighting. The top line image shows you just how beautiful these irons look while standing over them, from the thin top line and absolute minimum offset without see'ing the cavity one could easily think it's a blade. In fact we stacked it against many blades and this CB is actually thinner than some of the most popular muscle back's in the Japanese Market. RomaRo has done an almost perfect job of creating the optimal shape and while we are on the topic of optimal I must say the Ray-H Forged feels sublime at impact, the S20C and overall design gives a very dense soft yet not mushy feel to it. For those who know Japanese Golf Gear it's between TourStage & Miura at impact yet more buttery dense. Medium Rare :) Besides the impact feeling awesome the shape and curves from every angle of this iron have obviously been well thought out. RomaRo has done a great job from it's curved leading edge to it's sharper and high toe. On the course we found it to be somewhat forgiving considering it's smaller size, off center shots near the toe lose the most distance while center and closer to heel shots fly on line with good distance, the sole has some leading edge relief to help the club make first contact with the turf, really no complaints can be made from a design or feel stand point. Some will say what about distance? I would say you can't expect big distance from any true players CB or MB, they are just not designed that way and one of the big reasons is that you usually see more traditional lofts on these types of athlete designs. In this case RomaRo pulls back keeping lofts rather weak at 46* in the PW so purists rejoice! Workability is all there, we stacked up a couple of blades against these and actually found the Ray-H to be more workable and forgiving only giving up a little in terms of feel to a traditional blade design, when compared to the MB's that had a cut out or some new sort of tech we actually preferred the feel of the Ray H over them. While the sole is a touch bigger than most blades it's tapered wider toward the toe and only slightly bigger by half a mm on average. I would suggest these irons for a pro to 12'ish handicap skill level, someone who likes blade looking and soft forged irons that is looking for accuracy and workability. Available 3-PW as heads only or custom shafted. Click Here for the official product listing in the TSG Pro Shop.

Are JDM 'made for' shafts the real deal.
TourSpecGolfer replied to Petethepilot's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I can't say that all "Made for" Japan market shafts are the same, often there are slight flex and weight adjustments making them a touch softer. Some brands actually use legit aftermarket shafts and change the paint theme and go a flex or sub flex down, so in that case you are getting an aftermarket shaft but theres no way to tell without the inside scoop. I would say that no brands I know of use high modulus 50T+ carbon in their stock shafts. -
Everyone is suggesting clubs that the stereotypical 62yr old high 80's SS would normally fit, but considering your coming from a 9* head and wanting more roll out I would not suggest the XXIO or a royal deco as they promote the opposite. Glorious w/RB-5 or 6 is an option that will keep your trajectory more penetrating and increasing roll, and the RB shaft is an easy fit . Maxima for all out distance but it's harder to control and fit with it's shallow hosel depth. I don't get the Jbeam faces are hard, even the 435 I thought felt great. Another option worth considering is the RomaRo 455LX, actually I highly suggest!

There is only one I know of which is Kamui Works. The rest are just hand picked heads, do you know of others? How one would figure that out is pretty simple, just think of adjustable drivers, if you want a draw bias you will put more weight on the heel, if you want a fade bias the other side. If you want ball to go higher than you go with a higher loft. I don't consider Seven Dreamers fully custom unless you go to the $1800 Haute Couture shaft but you need to be in Japan to get fit. Their Matrix series is actually picked from 57 templates and is fit Exclusively by TSG online using a 16 question system, the shafts are made to order but you don't need to fit yourself. Hope that helps, we are not saying you can build whatever you want so please choose it. It's a process, like gold's factory, or buchi or anything else we offer, they require personalized service and a logical process to get you through it.

What iron are you talking about? There are custom grinds available for a small handful of brands. The company making isn't going to move the CG by much or change the size of the club. What your talking about is designing your own iron from scratch and to do that right it cost a fortune.

A few years back we had the Independence, Stealth, Hanya, and Lucky Putter themes along with a few others. In 2014 we are bringing them all back with fresh new designs. Live Free or Die - From Wiki: The phrase comes from a toast written by General John Stark, New Hampshire's most famous soldier of the American Revolutionary War, on July 31, 1809. Poor health forced Stark to decline an invitation to an anniversary reunion of the Battle of Bennington. Instead, he sent his toast by letter: "Live free or die: Death is not the worst of evils." Stark may not have been the original author of the phrase. Vivre Libre ou Mourir ("Live free or die") was a popular motto of the French Revolution. Dont Tread on Me - From Wiki: The Gadsden flag is a historical American flag with a yellow field depicting a rattlesnake coiled and ready to strike. Positioned below the rattlesnake are the words "Don't tread on me". The flag is named after American general and statesman Christopher Gadsden (1724–1805), who designed it in 1775 during the American Revolution. Est 1776 - From Wiki: This year is celebrated in the United States as the official beginning of its nationhood, with the Declaration of Independence issued on July 4. Official pics coming soon.

Going all out with "forgiveness" in your clubs
TourSpecGolfer replied to nobmontana's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
RB247G feels great just different than the forged feel we all know and to sum it up this is like an iron with a hybrid face. -
Me not fan of Masda grips, they are just too smooth with little lines in them for traction, sticky goes away in dry heat in about a week then you need new grips.

That's what I call a Unicorn! Maybe I should ask a different way, what is the largest sized iron your willing to play based off of what you have seen in the forums here? Now I assume the Super Egg's are way to big so taking it smaller the smaller Labo RB247G, 2014 VG3, RomaRo Type-R, Honma IS-03, JPX EIII Hot metal and taking it even smaller than that but not as forgiving as Pings are the JPX EIII Forged, RMX Tour Model CB, Believer CB. I'm sorry there is no ping like forgiveness with a razor thin top line small/mid sized iron. Drop me an email if you need further help narrowing it down. If you can compare the size you want to another iron I can provide info on it's forgiveness. Lastly, the most forgiving iron for it's size that I've hit is the RB247G below: -

Going all out with "forgiveness" in your clubs
TourSpecGolfer replied to nobmontana's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Can you tell me what your preference is in top line, offset, shape? That will help a lot because forgiveness can get pretty extreme i.e PRGR Super Egg or Titleist VG3 Type - E. -
The Maxima is more wild and higher. The Jbeam is similar to the trajectory of the 435 IMO.
