Yes it would - in the normal naming convention for steels under the AISI (American Iron and Steel Institute) edicts, the number 10 means carbon steel while the 20, 30, 40 etc means the percentage of carbon in terms of tenths of a percent - normally then you get 1020 carbon steel to be 0.20% Carbon, 103- is 0.30% and so forth. The nomenclature of S30C is from Japan - wouldn't it be nice if we all used the same terms and spoke the same language but we don't. Virtually all of the high tech countries have their own nomenclature for materials and each one is different - at least in carbon steels the Japanese use the 20, 30, 40 etc to denote the carbon percentage. Lower the carbon content, softer the steel. A 1020 or S20C would really be so soft that it would 'ding' very easily from ironheads clacking against each other in the bag - that would be the primary reason that I would not use it in a forged carbon steel iron design. 1030 or S30C would be where I would draw the line - for the limited benefits of going softer in the steel (tighter packing the forging dies is one good one though for fewer voids in the microstructure of the steel in the forging) you do have to watch the durability because most golfers cannot see the reduction of voids inside the head, but they sure can see the dings after a year of play. And in terms of feel - nada in my book for that so no benefit to going softer for feel - only for the forging die being able to compress the steel tighter for a more dense head.

Its Gauge Design A3SP, its just under 350 grams. I suggest trying the Premium zone #2 as its a big upgrade over a similar design.

I'm not leaving the EPON J's anytime soon, the feel and build is just to solid IMO. S25 vs S30 vs 1020 vs 1018 They are just different grades of forged steel with different carbon levels. The lower the number the softer it should feel. Worth to note that the vast majority of TSG'ers wont be able to tell the difference and that also feel even more so depends on the finish applied. S25 can feel softer than 1018 depending on that.

The topline is a full mm thinner than the NC-1's. About the same as the X-Blade CB2

2 days ago at a local pro shop, the sales person told me my irons were fakes then showed his pro and he too confirmed Taylormade has made no such irons and that the R7 forged fakes in my hands were cast. :tsg_smilie_rolleyes: I get this alot.

I was able to get 18 holes in with these irons the other day, very easy to hit while sweet and soft like the Miura forged 300's of several years ago. I would have to say this set of players CB's are the sweetest Taylormade has ever produced to date. I don't know what foundry made it so no need to ask but I do know there is a limited amount of these puppys around and that the design comes from the Japanese Tour pro's love for the 300 series Miura model and that sparked the creation of this fine set of forged irons. The set tested had DGS00's installed but they will be getting the NS1150 treatment later this week. I wouldn't say they are tiny heads but rather very playable and compact cb's with the profile for a player of tour like or top amateur abilities. Here are some actual pics:

Yup they are cast yet soft, I was amazed they must have taken a page from honma's play book as you would think they are forged if you no one said anything. The TB is a nice iron, fairly forgiving more so than say the MP-33. I do suggest trying the forged new model fourteen MB as well. X-Blade2 is soft, long irons are fairly easy to hit as far as blades go and they are one of the top MBs in any market.

The wedges are very very soft at impact, the loft options are limited at 52 and 58 but can be bent to any profile you wish. Nice heavy feel and they were built to match the type J. head profile i would rate at Medium, not compact yet not large at all. The new HG wedge is coming in august, I cant wait to try that. The only reason why the Epon wedges are not in the bag is due to the finish. I was never a big fan of wedges that rust.

Accra line isnt anything like the Axiv IMO, same parent company but in design, feel and performance they seem a bit more boardy and tip stiff with a less aggresive kick.

Only the R7 Forged limited is forged.

The Japanese OEMs have some new way to make conforming drivers perform better than non conforming, like the PRGR T3 which has a lower C.O.R than most conforming has an average 2 yard increase over non conforming. This was done with even a normal depth positioned CG as well.

For me there wasnt, i liked the PRO II better as it felt a tad softer due to the smaller undercut area. it also had a bit less offset while still having a meaty sole. very very good iron. if it wasnt the type Js in my bag i would have the PRO II, im a fairly good striker so all 3 sets performed very well.

Mack, this GT-R proto is 99% the same car we will see spring 2008. all the other concepts based on the 350Z and G35 were just to catch buzz leading up to the event where they released this car to the public view in tokyo. 1200lbs less not total body weight, and thats if its chamfered by the guys at Opera in Yokohama. They even rebuild sheet metal parts with Titanium for even more weight savings. One thing though Opera's Yasuyoshi Yamamoto will not modify the motor after doing this process. Original JDM style is reducing weight and reinforcing frames but leaving motors almost stock. The 1000hp issue is for the tuner crowd ( U.S style ). I personally agree with the Opera/Virtuoso philosophy, who needs that much power when you can hit 0-60 faster than the 911 turbo, Ferrari, Lambo, Ford GT, Z06 etc.. Don't expect a European ride on this car, its pure performance and aims to take records on tracks in germany's RING like the 1999 GT-R that stomped porche in its own back yard. Its true Japanese design at its best, The new design Super HICAS four wheel steering system can turn the front and rear wheels in opposite directions at low speeds for maneuvrability. It will be able to send 100% of the torque to the rear wheels in a matter of milliseconds allowing for a 50/50 split when required. Power can also be sent over to just the right or left side when needed as well. Rumor has it that the steering wheel mounted gearshift paddle could be upgraded to an 8 speed system like the new toyota racing gearbox. The launch control mode based off of the Magneti Marelli transmission system used by ferrari and aston martin could be used as well but enhanced even further. They are going nutz 100%, waaay ahead of the curve for this one.

its very affordable for the amount of technology you get. Faster than a ferrari, lambo, and 911 turbo for 75k. Japan release is mid 2007, people are already expecting chaffered frames with full carbon bodys coming in at 1200lbs less weight. Expect 1000+ horsepower after the tuners get a hold of it.

I dont understand where you get saving $200+??? The TSG catalog has a lowest price Epon gear anywhere. If you can find somthing lower we will beat it flat out. Not match, Beat!

The rombax 7V05 is supposed to lower spin quite a bit, very stable as well.

16* on the 4 wood. ERC3 got KO'd when I hit the Epon, It could be the softer shaft profile that im loving.
