EPON: The Best Forged Steel ENDO has Ever Produced!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
i didnt have much time with the 415, after testing the 460 first i fell in love. I would just assume the 415 feels a tad more solid. The 460 is the sweetest feeling driver to be released in a long time, since the days of foamed bridgestone heads. -
Since G-field has changed its irons manufacturer I have not been too thrilled by what they are releasing. They had no choice as Kyoei cant keep up with their numbers. They make the best putters, awesome wedges, great woods etc.. but I don't suggest the CCB or NC-1's. The Epon Type X is a very good choice, forged, better feel and design IMO.

Prgr T3 or wait on X-Drive 460?
TourSpecGolfer replied to upndowninthree's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
X-Drive 460 has no release date yet or specs released to the public. I will keep asking and when I find out you gents will be the first to know. EPON 460 Callaway ERC3 X-Drive 460 you cant go wrong with any of these. -
Yup i feel ya! Had the fertilizer thing happen to me multiple times. since then i gave up on black finishes. I have also had irons rust on plane flights. I play a round, the head is still a tad wet, i get on the plane and when i land some rust monster got it in cargo. a few tips for non black finishes are using vinegar to remove the rust, dry it off well and spray it with WD-40.

Since getting these irons I have been neglecting the forums due to increased passion for the game :tsg_smilie_wink: I have hit all models of EPON irons and i'm very very impressed by each one. The main difference between the type J and technica pro II and type X is the feel. because there is no undercut on the J its softer, in fact its as soft or softer than the majority of muscle backs. i'm not sure how they did that with no copper underlay but it must be the finish combo or the steel grade and quality. Type X is flat out easy to hit, they remind me of the TS-202 very much, soft and pure with a design thats simply to die for. I hit them well but i'm a players cb kinda guy. If you liked the 202 by tourstage you gotta give these a try. The Pro II i liked even better than the type X as they felt a bit better at impact. the profile was very nice and it came down to this set vs the type J. I selected the J as it was just a fraction softer in the longer irons and just so purdy from the back face to look at. The honeymoon is over yet i'm still hitting them as we are a happy married couple. Honestly guys I don't see another set of irons for a very long time. Just going to fine tune my game with these and live happily ever after. -
That must be a U.S europe release, I have never seen it in Japan. Give it a try, cant be half bad.

The ones on ebay are ancient close outs. The new ones have had decent at best ratings, still many many more on the market I would reccomend. Yonex seems to be in limbo like maruman, and yamaha.

Please remember each golfer will like each individual shaft differently based on their swing. That said this is my take on the shafts you requested: NS 950 - To light and soft for me, felt the head weight a tad better but not to my liking. In utility woods they are one of my favorites. NS1150 Tour - My favorite shaft, good feel that has a nice and smooth kick, doesnt balloon like other NS shafts and gave me increased distance, I can even play the X flex and get a tighter kick with a slightly lower flight. Im currently playing S. Shimada - I have not played it yet but am told they are the oldest shaft company in Japan. They have many different models that i do plan on giving a try very soon. Lennie would know more about it than I. I am waiting for spec sheets. Tour Concept - Not good with my swing, not only did i hit higher shots that were less accurate but i lost distance vs the NS1150. lots of really high draws for me and at times i could hook irons, Im a fan of tight iron shots.

I play my Type J's with the NS Pro 1150 Stiff. Its perfect for me and I highly suggest that shaft. NC-1 vs Type J no comparison, in the feel dept the NC-1s are not even close to as pure or soft at impact. The forgiveness factor I havent seen much of a difference in also, I hit the Type J #3 iron better than I hit the NC-1 #3, I hit them better because they setup much much better to my eye. There are now many irons available that top the G-Field version of the NC-1 IMO. EPON is like the Rolls Royce of players CB's they are not available in heads only. -

I dropped them an inquiry to get the skinny for you. Also im hearing rumors that these will be made in Japan or of a different forged steel, somthing worth to note is the double silver line ferrules that means assembly is for sure done in Japan.
