Crews Golf Milled face Wedge!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
The wedge in the image is not the wide version. Its cold here now so I cant get full rounds in comfortably, during the winter season I will be testing a variety of different clubs. I plan to test every new high end product until i find what works best for me in both numbers and play. Currently I am working on a new 58* then I will begin the search for a 53*. The format I am using is about an hour of testing with all 3 wedges on the AccuVector at the range ( Grass Only ) before 18 holes then 9 with one wedge 9 with the other. At times i just drop a few balls in interesting shots and see how each club reacts from the same place. This may sound weird but I also hit them with my eyes closed to judge feel. IMO what works in the 58 may not be what is best for me in 53. Right now I have the new black maru wedge as my AW, D3 with S300 and it works like a charm Next week I should have me the Japanese finished brushed satin Maru wedges also at D3, The feel should be more firm yet I need durability because i practice the short game quite a bit and beat the heck out of wedges. My entire bag is in limbo and wont be 100% set until mid March. I currently have 4 sets of irons 4 new wedges, 3 FW's, and 6 putters that need to be tested still...Winter is not my favorite season:tsg_smilie_wah: -

Exactly as Tai has said the JPX line in Japan is the premium line with all sorts of new technologies in their new drivers and irons. The JPX E300 and E301 were released earlier in 2005 The E300 on the left is made of 1020C and features a 12.5g tungsten weight bar in the sole to lower the CG while each club 3-PW features the exact same sweet spot height at 20mm. The E301 on the right is made of 1025 soft forged carbon steel with a titanium insert of 20g to help increase forgiveness. The 1025 steel has received a special plasma carbonization ion invade into the surface of the outer metal layer to increase feel and durability. New Models: The new model E310 also features the unified sweet spot technology at 20mm. Its made of soft forged 1025 steel and has 2 tungsten ingots total of 19g to lower the center of gravity. On the right is the Ti-Beta face E310 which has a stainless steel body and raw titanium face like a driver.

If the shape of this putter looks familiar it is very similar to the GA00H in 2004 except with a long neck style to it.

As good as "the balde", as good as "the one" this is one mean mallet with a sleek attitude about it. Very soft feel at impact due to forged carbon steel 100% CNC milled with a beauty of a dark silver finish and chrome sole. 3RTNC milling marks on a large polished Aluminum face insert. They are 345-350 gram heads connected to 130g NS Pro putter shafts and a black type A grip for a nice head heavy sensation.

Yes of course sir.

2006 Tourstage VIQ irons or Dunlop XXIO irons
TourSpecGolfer replied to tmelton697's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I would select the XXIO's hand down, In the past all of their irons have been solid performers the new design has tungsten weights on each side of the sole to enhance club head stability and lower the C.O.G the top line and offset on this model is semi game improvement as is the ViQ's but I just have a feeling the XXIO will perform better. -
Ari no offence but until you put each design through a CAD CAM you cant know. Mizuno tour grind staff does this for a reason, even if you grind some off on the opposite end it will affect the overall design of the club and its characteristics including optimal hitting area for maximum forgiveness, C.O.G effectiveness and location. Its not just about swing weight and grinds its about club head design, removing 1mm in the top line doesn't have the same affect as anything you do to the swing weight. How I see it is unless you have a very unorthodox swing habit adjusting many grind aspects for the sake of cool esthetics or placebo effect will always be a negative. This is what I am told from grinders at Grind Studio Japan (RF) with over 15 years experience as well as club head designers that actually use autocad to test the designs they are commissioned to produce.

They are solid shafts, they make the head feel heavier for some reason. I have never tried the PP adjust shaft yet but I am curious to. NS pro is actually my shaft of choice at the moment.

PX shafts and DC shafts are no longer an option for the custom mizunos, too expensive! the Nickel finish is softer and will not rust yet ding slightly easier, I suggest the nickel if you use iron covers and brushed satin if you don't. In regards to custom grinds, the Mizuno factory in Japan will not do anything that will affect performance in a negative manner. Every grind is quite conservative and what Taipanli said was correct, even the slightest relief grinding will move the C.O.G and even the slightest toe shape adjustment as well. Just because you have the option to do grind work doesn't mean it is any better for your swing, in most cases its counter productive yet in the internet forums people think the more you tinker with design the better it gets while its the exact opposite. My grind suggestions are matching top line and soles for combo sets and offset adjustments if you really need it. Other than that use the standard grind, I have found that pound for pound pure performance is more reliable in its original design.

New clubs honeymoon period
TourSpecGolfer replied to Phillip Alexander's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I have to agree, It has somthing to do with your mind, I get it all the time and your lucky if it lasts 4-6 weeks, Mine wears off in about half that time. I always hit new drivers straighter but not longer yet with new irons and wedges I never get the honeymoon period, it actually takes me time to get adjusted to the new specs, weight, flex, etc.. of the new club. -
I have had almost 10 rounds with the new X-Drive w/PT-6 Stiff and a solid 4 rounds with the TM R7425 9.5 Stock Rex shaft. Yesterday I spent 2 hours with my accuvector on the range and both drivers, I will post vector results in a few more rounds to make sure the settings were correct on multiple days. Side by Side the X-Drive is longer, more forgiving, and better feeling easily. It could be the shaft, but the R425 was a good 5 yards sometimes 10 on average behind the X-Drive. My honeymoon period is over with the XD but still going well with the TM. In regards to adjusting the flight and bias on the TM, I only set it once then leave it be, changing weights on this model makes a bigger difference than it did on the older model. The XD435 even in 10.5 setup perfectly square while the 9.5 R425 was a tad more than .5 closed. I got a higher launch angle from the TM than the XD also a little less spin yet those numbers didn't calculate into better performance on the range or course. I am going to shaft the TM with an Axiv 6064 up against the PT-6 in the XD. Will have screen captures of the vector numbers and session up in about a week to finish and add a more complete review.
