  1. We are seeing more an more bore through clubs in recent and Toshi at Anserfreak has sniffed out some great information this time for us Titleist and Callaway lovers. Check it out: It is supposed to raise the Center of gravity as well as make the head face balanced by adding weight to the neck area. Same thing done here to a Vokey wedge:
  2. What clubs are U.S made? I don't know of any and the closest would be Ping but even they are not 100% U.S made. When you think of a U.S OEM picture it being made in China, which isn't bad but could be better. The differences I see in the clubs made in Japan is first the feel, Himeji purchased or other in japan forged metals cant be beat. Other differences include Quality Control, The amount of $$$ put into to actual improvements, for example if the U.S OEM has to meet a retail price of 600.00 but Japan has to meet a retail price of 1400.00 there is that extra funding to add tungsten, maybe a titanium face, and or higher quality standard shaft options. Something else that gives me piece of mind about " Made in Japan " equipment is the people who make it, most often they love and play golf and have apprenticed for years before being able to lets say hand grind heads scheduled for retail sales. In China the laborers most likely don't golf or have any experience with playing golf. The majority of the time they have a quota of thousands of sets per month " mass production ". Japan doesn't build clubs at such a high output many times there can only be 25-100-300 sets made per month but made with better care and with more attention to detail. Has anyone ever noticed you cant get a high quality finish in the U.S? This is because the chemicals to really make a great finish are illigal in America, they cause cancer. No restrictions in Asia and thats why the re-finsihes there are unmatched. Military grade tungsten is also unavailable to manufactuers in the U.S. Real tungeten ( high grade ) is very brittle, see the tungsten in a gauge japan putter as an example and compare that level of tungsten to lets say never compromise or another China or U.S tungsten putter. It does require more care but I hear You can actually remove the tungsten from a gauge putter and make a cop killer bullet. This grade of tungsten is limited to the U.S military in the states.
  3. This SE80 sounds great in the FW's, Its pricey for a U.S offering also :money: I know Mamiya is the parent company of ACCRA and UST but was wondering if these shafts are made in Japan like Axiv?
  4. You are going to be very happy with them Irons  When you get tired of them let me know plz..
  5. They are awesome Irons! A way underrated players CB, more people need to try them. but.... They have been out for well over a year :surprize: They even had the 03 then 04 models. April 2004 the latest forged model was released. Here is what they have that is new:
  6. CCC does great work #1 in wood refinishing IMO, I just hear it takes a while.
  7. Volvo 2005 S40 Prototype Evolve Body Kit Heico full exhaust Heico front eye lids Evolve rear eye lids Black Translucent painted tail lights H&R Springs Bilstein shocks Heico front grill Evolve R5 20" Rims BFG 225/30/20 tires
  8. The putter grips are 25.00 + shipping The Wood/Iron/Wedge grips are 18.00 each + shipping Very expensive yes but for those who swear by Ion energy its a must for the golf game.
  9. They have all the U.S stuff and a few extras.... CG2 Type J with added tungsten Launcher Type J Launcher NC-x2 ( non Conforming Comp ) TA-6 Type J
  10. Different companies have done different things, PRGR ( pro gear ) has different stiffness carbon crowns it actually expands at impact and compresses helping the ball jump off the face without increasing the C.O.R rating on the face. The FT or Hot series is different the majority of the clubs head is carbon and the more carbon the more....weird at impact it will feel. Do not think that all carbon drivers feel like the FT-3 most of the brands only cap the crown keeping it mostly titanium. The majority of the OEMS use it to bring the center of gravity lower by making the top area lighter, kinda like the new AMG Mercedes with its Carbon Top saving it 200lbs on the roof thus making it more stable and areo dynamic. Taylormade had the XR05 Cti 460cc carbon crown in Japan, that was a hollow thumping club w/closed face. I think carbon crowns work best in the Utility woods! Who remembers that ol plastic Yonex driver, not bad for its time...lol
  11. Guys it seems Taylormade is max'd out with its inverted cone technology, The entire R7/R5 series all has pretty much the same feel and distance. Its all about the different sizes and shapes now. IMO it doesn't get much better than just the plain ol R7. Of course the SP700 Face Japanese TM drivers use are slightly longer due to C.O.R. This R7-XR is pretty much the R5TP with a longer heel to toe and the weighting closer to the face than rear, very forgiving indeed, more than the R5TP coming out IMO. I have tried the XR with the Fuji 553, Fuji Tour spec Rombax, Mamiya Axiv 6060M and the UST Proto in Stiff. 1st place Longest and tightest: Axiv 6060M. 2nd place Straight but a tad short: Tourspec rombax. 3rd place Easy to hit just no improvement over stock distances or dispersion: Fuji 553. 4th Proto was too stout and felt like a stick even untipped in Stiff flex.
  12. 250.oo shipped sir To each is own, this is what I would call similar to the 2-ball while the Eldik M is similar to the Futura or Phantom Futura. Not that big really about the same size as the 2-ball, Its the camera on magnify that makes it look large.
  13. 4-6 weeks sir!
  14. Some people say Ion works others say its a gimmick, I'm not injured so I really cant say but I do know Iomic grips have the most concentrated Ion content of any brand. I'm playing the Red/black ones on my NC-1's and they are more grippy than a tour velvet and lamkin crossline. Pink is the color of my putter grip  I really like the orange color also.
  15. It does have a very penetrating trajectory and the sound takes some time to get used to but its what I would expect of a driver with so much Carbon built into it. Its a dull hollowish thwack sound almost feels empty in a good way   Now days people are opening up to the idea of bigger drivers with Carbon technology. These V weights are changeable for tour players also, I guess they get add weight for the players to get them to the desired head weight...

It is a Foundry in Thailand and China that Manufactures and sells golf club heads, stainless products, and forged products in general. Different companies use different methods even within the Endo manufacturing facility.

I think he is talking about re-sale value being so low, most people who buy $1250.00 sets of irons sell them for at least $900+. good clubs though.

Roots in Hawaii has a 9/10 set of blank AR-1's for under $500.00.
  19. There is probably a cap on the max size for a 3 wood and besides golf is all about integrity.
  20. Only Drivers can be non-conforming, The Fairway woods and Hybrids don't have a C.O.R rating and are 100% legal anywhere.
  21. LOL your kidding right?
  22. I'm not to sure, but I always thought that the R&A was testing it on the Japan Tour and Euro Tours. It was always the plan to come back to normal C.O.R on a specified date. Recently Japan has been calling it S.L.E Spring Like Effect and putting stickers on most new model drivers saying the C.O.R will end on a particular date. Most JDM OEMS will stop making high C.O.R drivers in 2006
  23. 300 Tour is solid, its great for sure but it comes down to how you would use the term holy grail i guess. Same with the J340, I agree its awesome no doubt.
  24. Go to the adidas golf Japan website. There are tons of shoes you wont see in the states and they are made better than retail Adidas shoes. Check these out " Adidas I love Tokyo's" Notice the difference in quality, the black crows engraved into the leather. Just all around better stuff.
  25. The new 2005 Eldik Ace has just been released, It is the most refined version of the eldik ever. It features a plumbers neck and a hollowish body and overall performs very much like the 2-ball yet with a more satisfying feel and optimal alignment.
