  1. So please indulge me in an old topic. Are all the models - D1, Premia and V-spec (lets's leave out the ST as we know the face is thinner and non-conforming) exactly the same in head material, face thickness, 60 gram booster weight? Or are there any other engineering and technical differences amongst these 3 models apart from the different colored finishes. Going by google translate which can be off I know, it seems to be that all heads are identical with perhaps head weight (not booster weight) with the V-spec being made heavier. And if so, are the D1 and Premia same in head weight and everything else except color finish? And if D1 and Premia are identical, then is is correct to deduce that Premia, according to Ryoma's robot test, gets more distance ONLY due to the longer shaft length of the Premia setup of 46.5 inches as opposed to the 45.25 inches setup of the D1? Annnddd...... :-) if this is the case, then a D1 with the same shaft of the Premia at 46.5 should be as long as the Premia or put the other way, if exactly the same shaft and length was used in the D1 and Premia, would they play exactly the same? Or maybe the Premia is designed to spin more launch higher meaning there are engineering differences? Is the design of the V-spec head meant to make it spin and launch lower than the D1 ad Premia heads? If yes, what is differet in the V-spec that does this? If so, why did Ryoma bother with the D1 and Premia model variation? Just marketing or back to the original question, any engineering differences in the heads. Anyone have the facts? Thanks.
  2. My goodness..... the EHR is ... err.... to each his own :-)

What about singles? tourspecgolf sells in sets and single clubs.
  6. Anyone know of any good information source online?

Thanks for posting this. I'll be getting my second boy started on golf with my coach this coming school hold and while I know how to fit my own clubs, I really don;t know how to fit kids. Anyone know of any sites that has info on this? I'm guessing kids height will be a key factor and most junior clubs seem to go by age ...
  8. Thanks both. It just seems this did not get much love here at all.

Hi, If you're saying your 6I gets 165 YARDS, then 7.4 is way too stiff for you. I reckon you should be at a regular or SR at most which is a 6.4 or a 6.9 on Crazy's richter scale. I would say then that this setup, 9.5 and a 7.4 shaft is all wrong for you and if you want to stick to V-Spec, a 10.5 for a V-spec head with a SR or Stiff RD or a LY01 in 6.4 will be better. Just a thought.

Doesn;t seem to be much here in this head. Anyone tried this/still playing this?

You sound like you may not be getting enough spin with the V-spec which seems to have caught quite a few out, me included. If spin was enough even a push or pull will gothe distance. You can try going to a lower kick higher launching softer tip shaft but I think that can only help so much. If you want to stay with the V-Spec, going up to a 10.5 is probably the best bet.
  12. Yup. That's right. Was it done for different market purposes? Pro-Is were released in 2004, 301s in 2007. The Pro-Is are old irons that still perform every bit as good today even against the new offerings. Latest ain't alway the greatest for me in this case.
  13. I believe (think) the 301s and subsequently 302s were fashioned after the Pro Is.
  14. Came with shafted with NS Pro 75 in stiff which I have always wanted to try and with ionic grips too. Some times you get lucky with a great deal and this is one of them for me.
  15. I'm not surprised. I've found that the most effective way to manage launch is the head. Need more launch, get more loft. If a head is designed to be low spin and low launch, there's only so much a low kick high launch shaft can do. Same with trying different golf balls. Shafts and balls are fine tuning elements to affect launch and spin. The golf head and what it was designed to do is the key determinant. If you do get a V-Spec 10.5, pls post how much higher the launch and spin is to the 9.5.

I just got a second set of these wonderful irons but in a chrome finish and it came 5-PW only. Anyone have a 4I head of this exact model and finish to sell?
  17. THe v202s are supposed to be square faced per Yamaha's specs. Stock LV shaft (which this is not) plays at 46 inches finished length and 45.25 for the tour version I think. Can;t recall the swing weight. GLWS.
  18. Can you give a more direct comparison of th 4.6V r.p.m to the V-Spec and Premia? Your V-Spec and premia were 9.5 or 10.5* lofts? I gamed the V-Spec for a while so I am very familiar with its launch and spin characteristics which did not suit me too well. I am looking for a head which in the same loft has a slightly higher launch and spin than the V-Spec. Truth be told, my 435 combo is proving hard to beat but one never stops looking ... :-)
  19. And I think you tried the Ryoma V-Spec too and the 435?
  20. It's not the price I don't think. For shafted and shipped, it's a fair price. I think it's the loft and that this head is potentially suited to faster swing speeds which I am guessing avg TSGer is not. I was really toying around with a KPX head but after reading and exhanging views with some, thought it may not be a good bet for ME. The price is good however so a GLWS bump.
  21. How's the 103 so far C?
  22. You;re referring to the r.p.m head right? So if I struggled with a V-Spec 9.5 with a LY02, you reckon I should go with a 10* in a 4.6V r.p.m? I can get on for about mid to high US$200s. Stock Rombax shaft and used of course. Is that a good deal?
  23. Argghhhh... why did you have to do that especially when I know there is one going for a song... Ok... you have the Ryoma ST but have you played the V-Spec. I'm hearing that the 4.6V is very low spin and low launch close to V-Spec level. If that is the case, that is a concern for me although I guess I just bump up a degree in loft and play a higher launchign shaft like teh Royal Decor? Also, is this like a high swing speed big hitter kinda head because I'm not a big hitter with a high swing speed.
  24. Just hit the V202 side by side with my 435 again... the 435 is consistently longer than the V202. As much as I wanted to prefer the V202, the results for ME show otherwise.
  25. 2008 is the 4.6V?
