Thank you sir and I would pass it along to my brother in law. You did not think I would give up my Epon for a Highbore did you? I am playing very well with the Epon driver and I just dont want to fool with it for awhile.
  2. Firstly with the R7, trying adjustin the weight to put the heavy one at the toe but i dont think getting a open face driver is the answer. For the 5 iron to go 140 m (approx 155 yards) his ss for driver is definitely faster the 75 or more like 85 to 90 mph. Yours is likely to be 90+. His R7 could very well be too flex for his ss. My stop gap solution for myself is to get a low spin shaft (Diamana white ) and lower spin head (?) to take the left and right out of play. I think open face driver is just not suitable for a mid to high handicap play but 10 tp 10.5 degree of loft is fine.
  3. Of course you can use a hybrid to chip. As a matte of fact, you can use a lot of different clubs but Gocchin's chipper would have the proper length and he would have not to choke down and alter his putter stroke. For some, it is a indeed a stroke saver but I just dont have the room but if I do, it would be for another wedge or something else.

Do they have a Japanese site like everyone else?
  5. You, being a 4, would not have any issue with the xdrive 460. Being a 14/15 hdcp, I did not have any problem with the old xdrive 405 which is less forgiving than the new 460cc. I gave the 405 to a friend's son as the PT-7 Stiff was a tad too much work for me. You would find the AXIV-m to be a slightly lower the Red but not much. I find the Diamana white gives me more feel and lower flight than the AXIV-m. I personally find the distance to be fairly similar between the Diamana white and the Axiv-m. I have never played the AXIV-h but did not like the L.

With the face/top line of the club being 12 o'clock, the logo is approximate 2 (points to the right) being a right hand club. I asked the fitter to find the spine and this is the result.

Is there such a thing as the Japanese version (JDM shaft spec) of Hibore? I can't seem to find anything about it.
  8. Honma was almost out of business if not for new investors and the Beres line. The old Honma lines was so confusing that one just does not know what to get. The new Beres line clearly defines player groups. For ladies, weak seniors and/or hackers, the 500,600 and part of 700 series. For better players, the 800 and 900 series. The lighter and r flex Honma Armaq shafts are easier to handle while the heavier and stiffer shafts require more skill. If you set your mind to Honma, choose the new Beres line from TSG get some recommendation from Chris.
  9. Pardon my French but the beres 601 or 611 and 701 are crap. They are for those dont know how to play golf or really weak golfers. You could get far more superior clubs for half the price of 3 stars. I am not one of those into all the hypes but I am very happy with my Epon 460. As a matter of fact, I have 2 with different shafts. My main gamer in Toronto is a Diamana white which gives a lower launch and more roll and my other is a Fuji Six which gives a climbing draw. The white is 235 cpm at 45.25 and the SIX is 243 at 45.25 inches. The face of the Epon has more feel and it does feel softer than say a Srixon. I would not recommend a white board to anyone but a AXIV or Red board could be good.

Shimadagolf.pdf Pick this catalogue up yesterday at a fitter in Hong Kong but I am not sure whether I can attached or read pdf file. This is for those interested in trying something different from Japan and please direct all translation question to Gocchin. FYI I do have a set of K's 3001 in R on a Mizuno forged and plays differently than nspro 850. The Shimada felt more 'one-piece' if there is such a thing. ps: T, please see whether you need to convert the pdf file to something else.
  11. Hi guys, After reading the posts, I would recommend the XXIO or XXIO Prime or S-Yard. With Honma 701 or 702 2 stars, it is really a hit and miss situation whether one can get the benefit. For a slicer, nothing can beat the XXIO with its closed face. ps: I would be 61 in 3 months so I can understand what it mean to be a senior golfer.
  12. If you are getting your own cart, get a 3 wheeler push one that can be folded properly. It is night and day vs the pull cart.

Isn't there one for sale in the Summer inventory clearance? Perhaps you are looking for a used set only.
  14. Great Stuff T but lets carry our bag next time we play. haha My back is sore just by looking at the heavy bag.

Another superative poll? You know there would be 50 different responses and no definitive answer. My current driver is longer than my last one and the next one would be better than this one.
  16. OK, I would be the undiplomatic one. Judjing from all your posts, I still cannot figure out whether you are a single digit player, mid or high handicapper. I love the look of a pure blades but for sure I know I cannot play them and score well due to age and skill. I play the game for fun and basically trying to lower my handicap (posting every round) and of course compete in friendly mataches ($$$) and club competitions. With game improvement clubs available nowadays, it is enabling us old folks to compete somewhat with youner and better players. I have beautiful crafted Honma persimmon woods too but I need the extra 40 yards from my Epon driver to stay close with the next guy and try to take his money. My brother started golf with blades w/steel shafts but thats what were available 40 years ago and became a single digit player. They are of course long replaced by cavity and graphite.
  17. The 801 does not have nspro 950 option, only the 901 which is around $900 before shipping.
  18. Are you looking for opinion of true blades or just good feeling irons? While the J (or 1006) is probably a great iron, is it really a blade?
  19. The 106 is relatively large in size as a hybrid. If you like smaller head, take a look at the Royal Collection Td+. I was surprised by the compact head shape (short heel to toe).

TSG is selling a used 9.5 now at $580 on the J spec summer sales

Look into the pro shop or Japan.
  22. If your ss is 105 to 108 mph on hard swing, 240 cpm could very well be too soft. I cannot go beyond 90 mph and I play a 235 to 245 cpm comfortably.
  23. It is my personal view that I dont tip JDM, particularly super premium shaft like the Roddio. Feel is one thing but it is the results that count. Are you able to keep it in the fairway as softer shaft tends to lose it to right and/or left. If you can control it with good distance, keep the combo but i can understand that with a softer feeling, you do not feel confident 'going after it' for fear of losing it. I am playing GD and Fuji in stiff while my White Board is a R. My CPM range is 235 to 245 at 45 to 45.5".
  24. I am sure you can feel the difference of 10 cpm but feel has alot to do with kick point also and/or butt stiffness. The Roddio could be tip soft which makes it feel softer vs. the Fuji. My Machline on a Fourteen at 243cpm feels softer than my White Board R at 234 on my Epon. If the Epon/Roddio does not work out, drop me a pm. I could be interested although I already own two.
  25. Usually there is not recommendation for tip trimming for JDM shafts. Tip trimming is a bit of an American thing.
