  1. Now I understand where this obsession of your (on anything JDM golf) comes from and I am totally shocked that you actaully visited those porn stores (was that me in the background?) I like Japan for its tradition that is the reason I go back yearly or twice yearly for hotspring Onsen. It is like going back in time. My other obsession is sushi and all Japanese food (the traditional kind.) Good stuff T.
  2. No one is going to recommend that you bend a any iron by 4 degree which is probably the outer limit. one or 2 would not affect the bounce too much but 4? Is the Fourteen standard lies?
  3. I cannot argue about the FT3 or Epon for distance but at least the Epon sounds better. The main difference between 415 vs 460 in Epon is the location of CG. 415 is higher and cater to low handicap players which usually have a higher ss and no problem launch the ball. I am sure us mid handicap can play it but why make yourself do so much extra work for a game?
  4. There is a link in customer service in the Fourteen site (English version) where I asked the question of face angle of the 606. I got a reply back within 24 hours advising of that it is 1* closed. I have another component driver that is square but cannot tell the difference comparing the two. You can ask them about the 406 which is suppose for the low handicap player. In term of shaft, you would be looking to at least a S in any stock shaft if you go with Japanese. As i said, I have a 86 to 88 mph ss with medium release and I would be playing a 235 to 250 cpm at 45" which is a SR or S for Japanese stock spec.
  5. If you are 5'2'' playing a Rifle 5.5, you must be a young stocky guy. what is your driver swing speed? my ss is 86 to 88 so nspro 850 R is perfect for me but driver shaft is a different story since flex designation is all over the place with R would be closer to A in North America rating,
  6. Shimada steel is another premium steel shaft company from Japan that is just as good if not better than nspro. I believe the option for Epon iron is light version. I bought mind used hence the nspro 850r. I would have chosen the shimada if i get it new from Chris I have that on my Epon 50 degree AW which feels great for a full shot. I am 60 years old and a fairly solid 15 (thanks to all these equipment) and you are a 9 and probably young so you can go for the blade or modified blades. Only you know whether you have the game. For one thing, the S would be easier and still able to shape shots. For the JC606, I had a R flex for the stock and also R flex on the Machline proto. The cpm for the stock is 234 at 45.5 inches and 243 for machline. My driver ss is 86-88 mph. The White is also a R and 235 cpm at 45.25 inches. The white is much lower spin than the Machline and due to tip stiffness, you cannot feel the 10 cpm difference. The JC606 and Epon 460 are very similar shape at address and both of my are around 1 degree closed. I dont have the AXIV V and I am too cheap to go for the Roddio hence cannot tell you. I dont think the $400 Roddio can tranform me from a 15 to 9 anytime soon but more practice and playing can. Most JDM forged can be bended but 3 to 4 degrees as suggested by Gocchin is really the limit. Most should be ok for 2 degrees either way. Epon's lies is standard with Miura closer to 1 to 2 degree flat. I am 5'6'' and i am playing 1' upright (fitted by a fitter of course.) Since most people here already have what you like, it would be good to ask say installed cpm which is at least a better way to find the right flex since Japanese flex is at least 1 to 1/2 flex softer than North American standard. I have a AXIV 6060 with a spec 254 cpm but a finished cpm of 245 due to a 7 inch clamp (Japanese) vs. 5.
  7. I would leave the iron question to others except that I have 2 sets of irons that are nspro850 and would only change if it is a Shimada. I do have the JC606 and Epon 460 which in a sense qualify me in giving my opinion of both. Firstly the JC606 is slightly smaller at 430cc and very nice shape. You should note that there is no option for shaft with Fourteen except after market which I replaced the stock with Machline proto which is far superior than the stock. In term of feel of the drivers, the Epon does feel softer and more of a mute sound than the JC606. This is not to say the JC606 is loud like the FT5. It is difficult to compare distance since it is more a function of the shaft. I have the Diamana white now on the Epon and it is longer than my JC606. With the Epon, TSG has the shaft option while the Fourteen is more restrictive. Out of the two, the Epon with the White Board is my choice for my main gamer for now and the Fourteen as my backup.

Now that G-Field is officially gone (confirmed by TSG on another post) you guys should fly in a scoop up all the premium zones for eBay. I count them again this morning when I pick up my reshaft: Premium zone of various colors: 8 Leap M of various colors: 5 Players Zone: 3 and the guy wants usd1,000 for the NC-1 3-pw heads.

The teamgfield.com site is the 'official' website but I do not think it is active and the company is pretty much dead. You cannot buy anything at any price from that site.

I went there this afternoon to shaft a Versus head and found 8 premium zone putters for sale literally in a barrel. They are asking usd275 equiv. which I think is no bargain. The Leap-M goes for $185. I think I would wait until the premium is below $200 before picking one up (for the fun of it). They also have a set of NC1 iron heads for sale.

In the general scheme of things, the X-Drive series has always target the low handicap and good players while Viq is for the rest of us. I think the GR is somewhere in between where people want something beyond the Viq but something more forgiving than X-Drive. I personally would not attempt to play the X-drive (ss not fast enough to take advantage of design) but would be tempted to try out the GR version.
  12. I know it might not be politically correct in asking this but what is your handicapp and your own assessment of your playing ability? The different designs are all catered to all different need and playing abilities hence decision be made.

Now that you got me very curious and I would see if the agent for Matsumoto in Hong Kong would give a call to Matsumoto-Sen and put this question to bed once and for all.

The putting stroke (due to design of putter) is supposed to be different i.e. in-square-in for the L vs. square to square to square on the anser. This is just theory and as long as the ball goes it, it the right stroke.
  15. My original 460 was mated to a Axiv 6060L (bought this combo slightly used) but it was too high for my taste so I shafted it with a Diamana D63 R flex. IMO it feels better than the AXIV with a lower ball flight and longer due to low spin. You would be swinging at least a flex stiffer than me (88 to 90 mph). I then bought another 460 head but did not want to spend more money so shafted it with a old Fuji Six stiff I had laying around. This is also a great combo as it also felt as good if not better than the Axiv. Like the previous postsaid, get a Roddio if you are willing to spend more.

Hey T: Do you want my Tubu which is on loan for you GD collection?
  17. Duffer19 replied to gocchin's post in a topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
You are just too much T. You would have to get a bigger house or bigger basement with all these clubs.
  18. As said before, once you play Japanese forged irons, it is that difficult to go back especially when you have the game (being a 9 handicap). I actually don't know whether the R7 forged is made in Japan or not but the R7 TP is likely made in China. As to the Superquad woods, the difference is in the shafts and shaft options. The Japanese Superquad TP, you can get Quattro Tech, White Board and real Rombax as shaft options
  19. Most people here would not touch domestic models and I am no exception so it is definitely R7 forged without a doubt. And if you are considering the Superquad, you should consider the Japanese version also.
  20. Hi T: You know we have a golf date when I come back from overseas in 2 weeks time, right? I cannot wait when I actually get to try out your Roddio in real condition and compare it to my white board and Six on my Epon(s). AS for putter, it would be the Matsu against the Gauge.

I have never heard of Matsu blade but I do have a set of forged matsu CB graphite fit as compare to the steel fit cb irons. As far as I know, Matsu makes one model of forged irons. I am considering selling my set either shafted with orginal Speeder 603 R or just heads only but would have to wait after returning from my overseas trip by end of May. There is a color difference in chrome for the graphite fit vs. steel fit.
  22. Now I'll have to let my wife 'accidentally' read this one. Thanks for the laugh before I head out to the course in this beautiful spring morning.
  23. Duffer19 replied to Duffer19's post in a topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I cannot compare it with Blue or Red board since this is my first Diamana and I thought I did not have enough game for the shaft. Evidently, the shaft is not difficult to handle and it is low spin as claimed and have not snap book any shot yet. It has good feel or as good if not better than the Machline Proto I have on the JC606. I have hit Gocchin's Roddio into a net and it has really great feel (better than the MACHLINE). I need to get him to lend me his gamer for a round for comparison.

So far with 3 games with the white board, the distance is 15 to 20 yards longer (and lower launch) than the 6060L. Also shaft another Epon 460 with an old Fuji SIX and the flight is higher (not as high as 6060L) but just as long as the White. The SIX is high kick but soft tip.
  25. Chris, What is this interesting shaft on the 3 wood? I see Korean but cannot make out the name except 'Only Unique".
