I definitely prefer square to slightly closed as long as there isn't too much offset. That kills me more than anything. Over 1 degree closed though and I start to get hinky at setup.

Sure sounds like it. Does it look like it?

Forgot about that... Here's the photo. Not a very good one that was in the header there.

  6. That's a very good, clear explanation. You can actually see loft decrease if you rotate a head open. Thanks for that post.

The 757 is a great shaft if it fits you. Many guys will tip trim the 757 to lower their trajectory a little and stiffen the tip. I think that might be a good fix for you. Also, I would ask Joe Kwok what he thinks as he is the real guru around here. He's a master clubmaker and a Fujikura charter dealer. You can email him at [email protected] or give him a call between 11A and 2P Pacific Time at (650) 757-8310.
  8. Guys, an email from Chris would work fine stating the price and date with a TourSpec logo at the top. Make sure you photograph your gear too.
  9. We really are saying the same thing, but I'm not sure what you mean when you say they are more "explosive". In the van they change the set up, stuff foam in it to change the sound and work to make it like the player wants. You are saying that the way the club is set up works well for you.
  10. I refuse to participate in the TM Tour circus. I have had my share of Tour clubs though. The TM tour gear is just retail clubs that have been altered to someones spec. The exception to this is the clubs that were not released retail in the U.S. at all. I don't want those clubs anyway. What makes me think I can match someone else's spec or that the clubs alterations might be right for me personally. I use the TM 200 steels but they are not tour and they work great for me.

Maru: I don't think the 757 will lower your trajectory at all. The tip is soft so it helps with a higher trajectory. You would need a stiffer tip with a high kick.

    I play it and it works great. I don't think it has a low/mid kick. Here's the specs I have on it... Speeder - 553 TriaxEngine - 46 56 3.4 midhigh
  14. It depends on the condition, but these are pricey. I've seen ones that are almost perfect go for over $900.
  15. It's probably bogus.

    Yes, they do. :D
  17. Thank you guys. Great stuff!
  18. It seemed to me that you were quite clear and they answered your question the way I would have as well. There is no such thing as "the hottest driver." There is such a thing as "the hottest driver for you" based on your swing characteristics. The only real way to determine it is with actual numbers. I agree with this. There really isn't any such thing as "set up to the same specs", because we all swing different. There is going to be shafts that work better for some swings and not for others. Too personal.
  19. I think what most manufacturers are going for right now is a way to enlarge the sweet spot by ways of strengthening the face. That used to be their bottleneck in forgiveness. It's like, Yeah, the max COR is achieved, now let's have that over the entire face, not just a little spot.

Let us know what you think as you play them a little more. Also, I'm curious as to any differences anyone may have found between the U.S. 201's and the Japan 1005's. Thanks! Jim

Does anyone have the URL address to the FourteeN Japanese website. I lost some of my favorites and I can't find it anywhere. Thanks in advance. Jim

Patrick: Great bag. Thanks for showing us. I know how difficult it must have been to acquire these clubs. Very nice! Jim

Good point. Fully inserted that shaft would come up very stiff in the tip. Aldila doesn't even recommend tip trimming it at all. If you do decide to go with the NV then insert it to spec (regular flex) and have the club guy fill the bottom bore-through with the tip of an old shaft.

I'd look at the regular flex Aldila NV 65's. That loft would handle the lower trajectory and that would be a good shaft for your Swing Speed.
