  1. Good looking stuff! Must be some girl to hit that 3-wood...

I use it instead of my 3-iron and it works really well as a driving iron. I can hit some incredibly piercing and LONG tee-shots with this club. It's really easy to hit and feels super soft.
  3. Thanks for the heads up! The miura looks compact and clean indeed..Was also eyeing the Geotech V2 and the ezone wedges, they also look a bit more compact.
  4. I recently started playing with a VEGA blade set, and it's going really well. The PW is truly excellent, so much so that I go to it for shots that usually would call for a 52 or more..I get great results by kinda opening it up a bit, the bounce seems perfect for me. Anyway, I have three Rupas wedges at 52, 56 and 60 and they now look huge compared to my PW, was wondering if there is a model that would blend in a more seamless manner with the rest of the set? Most wedges are rather big in size and now that I play a blade iron set, they feel almost a bit clumsy..?
  5. And so you should! 255 is a very respectable drive for most women, even on tour.
  6. Oops, ok my bad. But still?
  7. Yes, like I wrote, women usually can muster around 200 yards from a drive. That's not out of the question. But a woman going down to a FW, whatever FW it is, and ADD 40 yards to her tee shots compared to her driver? It's just not believable. Some FW can rival the driver when it comes to length, but to ADD 40 yards? I don't believe it.
  8. I understand the Ryoma is an awesome club, and I am thinking about getting one some day, but...50 yards extra distance with a driver? And 40 yards extra for a woman hitting the Ryoma FW? If we forget about increases in yards, and think percentage, a woman golfer usually don't hit driver much longer than 180 yards, maybe 200..Tops. And now she is hitting a FW 40 yards longer? So she is now hitting it 20-25% longer than her old driver? And is now hitting it, what, 230-240? It just sounds a bit OTT. And adding 50 yards with your driver? Did you use a 2 degree 435 with an XXXXXstiff shaft before or what? No matter how unsuitable a driver is for me, there would never be 50 yards of difference between that and driver that suits me, it just sounds a bit overblown. Sorry, I don't believe it. I mean, 50 (!) yards?

How do these shafts play? Stiff to flex or soft?

I'm out and about working at the moment, but will post pictures when I get back home in about a weeks time!
  11. I don't practise, I just play. So, if I happen to believe that the SP blues are better than the KBS tours after trying both I'm not entitled to that opinion because I'm not at least a 5 hcp? Maybe in your narrow world, but I made a choice as a consumer and unlike you I have actually tried the KBS tours AND the SPs..And I can for sure hit any shaft, the SP are heavier and stiffer then the KBS tours, and fly a lot lower but with a very smooth feel. So just because you are so narrowminded as to not being able to see that Nippon makes models you have never tried or even seen maybe, they are for ladies and slower swingers only? That's like saying since my neighbour drives an Audi A1 and I have never tried the R8 Audis are for people that enjoy small slow cars only. So, what you are actually saying is that even though you have never tried the SP blues and other models you can say for certain that the C-tapers are a better shaft? That's delusional, you don't know what you are talking about, and that's a cold hard fact.
  12. So, you never tried SP blues but you think they are for girls? "No experience with" but still sure about how they play? Are you a psychic? I play the SP blues in Xstiff and they are by no means "girly", much lower launch and "manlier" than KBS tours, that I have also hit many times. I don't know what kind of girls you meet, but I somehow doubt they would enjoy using my clubs. And yes, C-tapers seem to be a good shaft. Must be ONLY USE what is made in the good old USA? On another note, when I had my clubs built in the UK with the SP blues he told me he will spine the shafts for me, but warned me the logos might be all over the place and I said no problem. Then they came back with the logos all down in almost the exact same place. He emailed me and said that he actually DID spine them.

I agree with your last statement, but I'm just a pleasantly surprised it didn't bring any real and noticable disadvantage.

Aha, interesting stuff about your SW experience there. Yeah, I was thinking the newer, "modern" blades like the VEGAs I have might be a lot easier than the traditional stuff. My buddies today were very sceptical when they saw my new sticks today, and they were saying things like "Are you sure you have the game to bag these Musclebacks?" But like i wrote, I hd no problem with these. The consistency might be very true, and I also have felt that I hardly know where to place the ball at adress with large oversize clubs. i've been through various stuff and weirdly, these smaller blades feel easier to aim with, and they sit very well behind the ball somehow..Lost one ball today, and that was after a crooked drive, ha ha.

Yeah, maybe if I waggle it a bit, I might feel that it's a bit head heavy. But nothing much really, together with an Xstiff and heavy shaft like the SP blue it might even be a good idea to get the SW up in order to feel the clubhead a bit more? Like I feel the head better and not only the shafts..? maybe? I've noticed this with lighter and softer shafts, like graphite shafts, tha the head feels noticably heavier even though the SW is just D2 or something. Maybe, just maybe heavy shafts should mean more headweight and not less? My driver is pretty light when it comes to SW, D1, and I don't feel thats it's out of balance with my irons..Had a driver with D5 before and actually thought the club felt way way too head heavy during the swing..Maybe it's the effect of a longer shaft. Played 18 holes today with the blades, hit some really good shots, a gimme birdie from 170 yard out for example. I did not have my best day ever ballstriking-wise but the VEGAs were pretty forgiving, I hit a few shots thin and the ball went very straight and only came up a bit short. I feel like I only lose a bit of distance when I dont hit it ok, not direction like I have experienced before. Weird.

Had a go with the Vegas today, and had no issues with the swingweight, hit some really good shots and had a great day when it comes to accuracy. A bit surprised since these are real blades, and it's the first set of pure blades I have actually owned, didn't find them to small to look at and hit both 4 and 5 iron without any problem. Height also no problem, if anything I liked that this combo of shaft and head gave me a slightly lower flight. I'm not the best ballstriker in the world by any means, hit some shots a bot thin today but still got some good results, just lost a bit distance and missed a green on a par 3 after a slightly thin shot, but just by a few meters and still pin high. I'm convinced anybody, absolutely anybody can play blades and their score would not suffer. Starting to believe all this talk about GI this and that is nothing but a myth. Ok, maybe if somebody is an extremely slow swinger, but I'm pretty sure a lighter, high kicking shaft would fix that too. To add, one "problem" I encountered today was that the PW was extremely nice around the greens, with a compact and clean look to it. It made my Yururi Rupas wedges seem a bit oversized and almost a bit clumsy! A matching gap wedge would be nice to be able to get.

I have tried the KBS tours and quite liked them so I might go for that if the irons feel to heavy today. About the counterbalanced feel, I read somewhere that the SP orange shafts have a counterbalanced feel as well, similar to the KBS. Anybody know?

That's correct. I was thinking about US standard length these days. And isnt 37.75 the standard JDM spec? The heads are the international line so I was a bit surprised at the SW, the heads must be heavy..Will take them out for a spin today.

Forgot to check..I was in a bit of a hurry when I was a the club builder today. Does anybody else play with a SW this high? Or near to it?

I have a set of VEGA Raf-CM blades that I fitted with my SP blues today. The shafts are now just half an inch over standard at 38.5 for the 5 iron. The heads look great with these shafts, but the SW came out at D9 (!) and even E1 and E2 for the 9 iron and PW. I had bridgestone J38s with these shafts before and SW was around D5-6. I have not hit the VEGAs yet, but became a bit worried about the SW. Will try them tomorrow and see how it goes.

How much do these heads cost?
  22. Vegaman replied to potuna's post in a topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
The softest feeling heads I have/had is the FT9 tour, vega DAF and my current favourite, the Tourstage 703. I've hit the 703 with a few different shafts but it feels soft and springy regardless of shaft.
