stew, when you get this, please compare it to the yamada and zen as i've had my eye on this model for a while!

i have aerotech steelfiber i125's in another set and i do like them. so it still comes back to wanting to try something new...

i wouldn't say i'm a hard hitter, probably more of a sweeper that takes small divots...slow smooth take away with an accelerating transition. 6iron distance is 180yds. ...and what is "tx" flex? between stiff and x?

i LOVE my kbs c-tapers but as the ho'ing goes i want to try something else. i gave the nippon sp blues a go and they just couldn't match the feel of the c-tapers. for some perspective, i typically play stiff flex but dropped down to r+ for the kbs's. i tried the spb's straight in, then later soft stepped them once to gain some feel. that helped but they still can't match the c-t's. so......where to go from here? it would be easy to just keep shafting everything with c-t's but I already have 2 sets with them so i might as well try something else. i DEFINITELY need to keep the ball flight and spin as low as possible but maybe get away from a butt kick shaft and gain some feel. from the reading around here, i was thinking monacos but the more input the better. i'm looking forward to everyone's advice!

yep, you'll need a mold to clamp the head...and unless it's a dime per dozen usdm model that won't be likely.

well...my dad just sent me a little something he picked up on his trip. i've already stated that the zen is the best looking putter i've ever seen...but now i can say it's the best feeling putter as well. i have the yamada shogun in burning copper and it is pretty impressive. i didn't think there could be another league above yamada but i will admit if there wasn't one before, there is now. the softest putter i've ever rolled is a custom kevin burns with his pyramid grooves...but because the grooves make the 303 stainless steel feel so soft, they also deaden the feedback and the ball is less responsive off the face. you have to swing harder because of this. the zen is as soft as the burns but with all the feel, feedback, and ball response. i'm not sure how or why this putter seems to get the ball rotating forward so quickly and smoothly compared to others but it does. maybe it's all because i'm in the honeymoon phase but the zen is truly incredible regardless. my only disappointment is the grip...epon should have done something special to match the rest of the package...but at least that's an easy fix.

also interested. i'd like to get some heavier weights for mine...lead tape on the arse end really woke her up and improved the feel!

exactly what i needed to know, thank you! my biggest problem is too high of a ball flight and too much spin...hence the reason i'm into the c-tapers and spb's. with the c-tapers i can stop any iron...4, 8, pw, whatever within a foot or two of my ball mark. with most other shafts i'm worried about backing my scoring irons off the green. i wouldn't be opposed to a higher ball flight as long as dispersion was good and i could still knock them down in the wind if i need to...but i definitely don't want any more spin. i love the feel of the c-tapers but i was wanting to try a heavier shaft. in order to do that with the c-tapers i'd have to move up a flex and that's a deal breaker. i sure wish i got the same feel out of the spb's that others have!

that's some awesome information and i'm going to need to read it a few more times to take it all in. thank you! in the mean time, let me ask something more specific...how would you directly compare the monacos in terms of trajectory, spin, and distance to the sp blues? (don't be afraid to draw another diagram because that was extremely helpful!) the reason i ask is that i was able to shaft a set of irons with the sp blues expecting the performance of the c-taper but with even better feel. ironically, (for me) the c-tapers far surpass the sp blues in feel so i'm wondering if i might be able to give the monacos a go without adding too much spin or trajectory height.

i'm also eager to hear how the monacos compare to these shafts!

nice set-up! i'd almost recommend staying away from jdm drivers...once that ocd quest starts it's harder to stop than a freight train!!!
