Review - Epon AF301 with Black Golds
TourSpecGolfer replied to bogeydog's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Its a players CB in my opinion. -
Is there such a thing as a Japan version of Black Gold?
TourSpecGolfer replied to wmclarenf1's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I'm guessing they are the same despite the Made in Japan sticker, I have seen clubs made in China with made in Japan stickers on them so its hard to tell unless the product itself has it written. With Epon BG shafts are +15.00 per club. -
PRGR's New M3 Hit **TOUR** w/ PICS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I agree totally, this is one of the best FW's I have felt, hit, and played with in a long time, I have already removed the 13.5 epon in exchange for the 15* M3 Tour. But I did put the Mach Line shaft into the PRGR and its been treating me very well for many rounds. -
As far as Ozik's go they are incredibly well made and imo the constancy and tolerances is one of the best around, CPM's usually read closest to the butt sticker than any other brand pre and post install. From what I have seen on the vector the Xcon5 produces great numbers for a large percentage of players swinging from 95-100ish mph. Better than the Code 5/6 and Xcon6. For a while I was using one in my driver prior to switching to the 6-ply proto.

Diamana's new special edition shaft " Diamana ali'islei " is a totally new departure from their current Diamana and Bissara technology. They call it M.I.T (Material / Integrate / Technology) and its due out this Nov. in Japan. As the Hawaii TSG'ers know Ali'i means king and an aristocrat "the best class" by the Hawaiian language. The Lei is a flower design going down the butt end of the shaft thats very attractive. Stay tuned for more info!

Review - Epon AF301 with Black Golds
TourSpecGolfer replied to bogeydog's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
IMO If the majority of the PGA Tour can use cavity backs a scratch or even better player can use the AF301 or something even bigger like the new Fourteen CB. IMO blades are a training tool for good players or for players who shoot average of at or under par. IMO don’t go blade unless you are a 0 - + hcp. I play about 4-6 weeks with a CB then move to a blade for 1-2 weeks then rotate back. It helps keep sharp. Right now I cycle between AF301 & Yururi Gekku CB to Yururi Proto blade, I'm single digi soon to be scratch with more hard work. Play the clubs that get you the lowest score and most confidence. Many guys in the forums just play shafts so stiff they don’t load properly, clubs not forgiving enough, and just go for every pin. Don’t worry about custom grinding on irons or bounce on irons so much, trust me if the swing is solid with a good move and you have coach who knows his stuff you can hit anything. i.e you can hit R flex 2* closed and X flex 2* open straight down the line, blade irons and huge clunkers straight too. Its when I try to hit high hooks/high cuts/shot shape is when my score goes up. If you take a look at golf of old its all about shot shaping, look at the young guns now its course management, distance, and down the line shots with variations of the stack and tilt move, or what butch Harmon, Jimmy Ballard, and best of all Ben Hogan teach... sorry guys this is Just my rant about not getting caught up in the too much offset, top line too thick band wagon on the forums. Yea its fun to sound cool on the web but posting low scores is always the bottom line. I'm sure Ajay is a great player, It seems he has a style of play that works best with blades, a strong preference of the eye and the desire to shape shots is what it sounds like to me. He is in the upper 1% of good players who have these wishes. -
XCON 5 Sir! that has the best numbers of any OZIK shaft around. Ozik does make a very high quality and solid performing shaft. To my surprise th XCON 5 performs better than the XCON6.

Awesome review NT! Did you try it on a USA PC with Vista or a Nihon PC?

EPON's Prototype T72 Neo Anser Putter w/PICS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Yes I was told the Neo Mallet has the highest MOI in the industry of any putter, When I play with it I can drill putts with one hand as it forces you to take i back and through on a nice stable arc. Nice post and since the cat is out the bag early I will post my pics here also: -
Awesome set D, thanks for spinning my head in circles about technology at the show! Guy's he is a genius!

Yururi Blades vs Vega Limited Blades
TourSpecGolfer replied to bogeydog's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
They look identical but I think the Yururi has a bit more offset, they do look very similar though I will ask if there is any relationship. -
Epon Double Buldge Proto Driver
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
delayed until December sir. They found a way to get 4-5 more yards from off center hits! -
We will add software by the weekend guys. In regards to the translation we can post a screen capture of the software or program with instructions via the forum. We have not received ours yet so we don't know if there is an English option. I really don't think there would be, so count on troubleshooting to be done in the forums.

Sorry I wont be much help there, I have the R7 TP, & R7 Draws USDM here but not the normal version. Perhaps another person can chime in.
-
What model TM R7's exactly?
-
Forged in Taiwan, Finished in China, but they feel pretty good.
-
I have a feeling these will be a usa release in 2008 and japan will have those as well as their very own forged model released around the time of the show. Its gonna be hard for them to top the current version, imo its an actual improvement over the 300 forged irons of past.

Improvements of the Epon AF 301
TourSpecGolfer replied to Richmond Golfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Sir they are to small to notice in terms of performance, the lie is a little flatter, the offset is a little less, and the topline is a hair more rounded but if you didn't have a caliper and both clubs side by side it would be difficult to tell. -
Let me know guys I can getum.

I wouldn't know because I never ground my driver. -

EPON's Prototype T72 Neo Anser Putter w/PICS!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
I haven't post pic's of the face because Epon has not decided on the material used. IMO its a good start, the design is based on performance, I understand the style is not for everyone but atleast they are thinking outside of the norm and have originality in their product line. -
Endo - how big is their test and development center, R&D ?
TourSpecGolfer replied to ClubHoUno's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Hey Claus, Its huge but I don't know the full spectrum of it. they have about 300-1000 employees in Japan and another 2000 in Thailand, in Thailand they have four factories, eagle, stork, stainless steel, and forgings. I think most of the R&D itself is done in Japan but don't quote me on that. On Auto Cad alone they have a building of 30 specialists, they also work in sync with many OEMS to help them improve their product lines or troubleshoot issues. They not only build golf clubs but all sorts of things from medical tools, to automotive high end forged parts so you could imagine how they can implement certain technologies from one industry into another. One of the most important aspects about Endo is that they use ISO9001, ISO 9000+ is a generic name given to a family of standards developed to provide a framework around which a Quality Management System can effectively be implemented. Its a rock solid program that ensure's the best quality possible. Endo also takes great care of disposing hazardous waste and chemicals and follows environmental standards for their respective area's, they also have guidelines to better care for their staff when compared to other factories in China, Bangladesh and other areas. Its a very well rounded and responsible company you can feel good buying products from. They are the undisputed #1 golf factory in the world, they can do anything the other factories can yet the other factories cant get close to what they are able to do. China has Dynamix ( forgings ) & Nelson ( Woods ) who are in their upper tier but they are known more for castings, lower prices, and recycled materials.
