Gauge Design Japan MB2's **IMAGES**
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
In our gallery under import Irons, or you can do a search in the forums, or check out the thread with my WITB: TSG Image gallery -
It depends on the company, Gauge Japan is currently not offering any customizations, I can get you them with S200s or heads only but thats it. The majority of customers have been ordering the NS1150 shafts from the catalog and heads only if they don't get along with S200s. With mizuno you can get the mother load of custom options but they cost a pretty penny.

Soles are not to thick at all IMO, here take a look: -
Coming Mid January the new ViQ series driver, irons, fairway woods, utilitys, and putters! The new ViQ U.S.G.A conforming driver won the G-Award for best new design. Lefty Love!

After quite a few rounds with these wedges, they are not as soft as the GAS1 forged yet they are not as hard as the Titleist spin milled wedges. I think when adding milling marks to the face of a wedge it gives it that effect. The SQBT has the same forged steel yet feels a bit more firm during contact. These are keepers and will stay in my bag. I do have the Miura WMF-03, Crews Triple sole milled face, Zodia Premium Chrome Wedge, and Zodia Milled face wedges coming all in the same box late this month. all 58* with S200's so it should make for a very interesting showdown and pic session.

Welcome to the club madball! Did you get them and how are they doing for you? -
That might be a good idea as Japan standard is already a quarter of an inch shorter. I say go for it, these are the best hybrids I have ever owned and I have had quite a few.

V-Steel Version 2 Images.....Cold day!
TourSpecGolfer replied to TourSpecGolfer's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
Good Scoop Sam! Here is the text: Shallower clubface than original V Steel promotes a higher launch angle and generates more spin to promote greater distance. Pull-Face steel construction makes possible a thin, flexible face that delivers high COR for longer results on mis-hits. Refined V-shaped sole increases clubhead stability at address, facilitating aiming and reducing turf-resistance at impact. Tour-proven clubhead shape is engineered with a low, deep CG that helps launch the ball quickly and with little effort. Permanent metallic swing-weight plug is easily and accurately set by TaylorMade engineers to meet each player’s individual preference. -
For all you Zodia fans out there interested in somthing other than the rusting raw finish they offer, look no further. We can now special order you the premium spec Zodia wedges in Chrome!

Silencing a Taylor Made r5 Dual MAX
TourSpecGolfer replied to 03trdblack's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
The Japanese TM M.A.X faces are made of SP700 unlike the U.S versions, They needed to do this to make the face thin and increase the C.O.R. I would suggest sending your current one to Joe Kwok who can foam or dampen the sound in a variety of different ways. Or you could buy a new driver :tsg_smilie_money3: -
This looks very promising, I was never big on Mizuno woods until the UX2 which IMO could be the best hybrid I have ever hit. I cant wait to hit the MP003 driver and fairway woods. These will actually be available with square faces in the 8.5 loft, .5 closed in 9.5 and 1 degree closed in 10.5. The release date is Jan 16th (Japan Only ) for the 9.5 in stiff version and there will also be a USGA conforming model as well. There are two weight plugs one on the heel and one on the toe side, I am not sure if they are wrench adjustable yet. The face is made of a very cool new material mizuno is boasting about called (Ti-15V-6Cr-4A.I. Artificial Intelligence) The driver head volume is 420cc's and the crown is made of a light weight titanium, not carbon. There will also be a new fairway wood with the same technology, here is the image:

So far we don't know the exactly the full lineup of what is to come by RC in 2006. Here is what we do know is coming: - Royal Collection C.V pro Type H2 - Royal Collection CV 101 CB Irons - Royal Collection Forged Tour wedges CV101 Irons: These Irons were first seen almost 2 years ago at the Tokyo golf fair, I have no idea what the delay was but they are now scheduled to be released in early 2006. Forged Tour Wedges: About 6 months ago we saw the RC Tour forged Wedge in JPGA players bags , many in the U.S have seen the same thing in a sonartec version released in limited numbers on ebay in recent. RC has scratched that style for a new one that is more versatile for the average player and course conditions. From what I hear RC is really getting into forged wedge grinding for their tour players. The retail stuff along with the rest of their product is still made in China though.

This post is in the import section because these two drivers are the non conforming plus+ versions from Japan. On the left we have the tour version, on the right the normal. Notice the sweet spot point is designated by the black dots on the face. Both drivers had the spot located very high on the face. The tour actually has its spot 1mm higher than the regular spec at 37mm. The total face height of the tour is about 40mm tall. The location of the sweet spot compared to face height is very similar to the ERG HOT and TM R5 dual. Here we see the center of gravity position on the sole. The C.O.G on the tour version is 6m more shallow than the normal spec. Images taken by Mark Kanai.

Have you ever sky marked your brand new fancy driver or fairway wood? :tsg_smile_wah: Here is a way to fix small chips and sky marks on the crown! Take a look at these step by step example images: Small chip from a defied shot. :task_smiley_laughatyou: Step 1: Go to your local auto or hardware store to purchase a touch up paint pen, some 1500 and 8000 waterproof sand paper along with a metal polishing agent. Step 2: Apply touch up paint to clean surface and make sure to let it dry 100% before moving to step 3. Step 3: Very carefully use the 1500 grit sandpaper to remove the excess dried paint. ( make sure it is 100% dry before doing this ) I suggest wrapping it around a pencil. Step 4: Use the the #8000 sand paper to further smooth it out very lightly. Step 5: Apply metal polishing compound and buff to a shine. There you go, chip be gone!

There is no plan for one right now. I will be spending lots of time at Gauge HQ early 2006 and will push hard to produce a limited number of them.

The Japanese XR line fairway woods by Taylormade are far over priced in my opinion. That includes the R7XR and XR-05 models. The ones on ebay you have in the links are at a very good price. These are almost game improvement fairway woods in the sense that they come with whippy shafts and have closed faces.

The Japan version is the 505 which features a tungsten composite in the long to mid irons and a better shape overall. The U.S and Euro version is the 506, which doesn't look nearly as good and doesn't hold the same resale value as the 505 does. Both sets are made in Japan with great quality control.

purchase what exactly?

They used to offer all kinds of custom mods, but not at the moment. They are in some kind of expansion stage right now, getting ready for the world market instead of only Japan. I guess they have a full plate.

Ok these are old images I found on my HD but they look so darn good I had to re-post them! FYI, I have a set of these same irons 3-PW sitting in the wraps with no home :tsg_smiley_yes:
