  1. Do you really get a higher traj. From the 120/130 vs the 125?
  2. Where on the club face do you miss? What does your bad shot or problem area look like? The reason why I ask is because we all have different problems and issues so figuring this out is essential to finding what the easiest club for "you" would be.
  3. This is what happens when Epon designs on their own and this stuff will float in Japan but not anywhere else especially the discerning bunch you fellas are. They are still utilizing the aesthetic recommendations from TSG since we had them get rid of Technity and move to JAPAN FORGED AF (Absolute Forged) theme, Based on Absolute Vodka btw.
  4. If I could do it all over again, I would change it up: #4 - P #5-9 - VN #PW - M Not the best for looks but for my game this is what would benefit me.
  5. Here ya go Epon Fans, 2 new putters release date: Janurary 21st.
  6. I shouldn't say stay away, I would just suggest Honma models like Beres or TW series no matter where it's sold over the G1X. G1X they are trying to reach a certain price point and in order to do that certain sacrifices are made, Designed at Sakata is all Honma models, Made at Sakata is not.
  7. Honma is a solid company, their capabilities are second to none.
  8. It's the G1X, stay away from that one. Not made by Sakata. It's made for the Global Market.
  9. Just email me to order, custom spec isn't a problem either.
  10. Here is top view of the new irons he is producing.
  11. I'm stoked for you V! I know first hand that the Maxima + 7D combo is the best shaft for this head. To me it totally transforms the Maxima into a distance beast with much much much improved dispersion and straightness, it does lower the trajectory as well ( of course depending on shaft design ) If you have questions about the process feel free to ask as 7D already knows your a good customer of ours and to look after all details.
  12. Very far out sir, I would not be expecting them soon. Samples of the next run are still not here and even then I most likely won't be happy with them.
  13. It's not just about COR and CG locations for distance and not all drivers go the same distance if those two things are equal. COR + CG does not create equal ball speeds. Factories know what drivers are longer than the others by using a very expensive trackman combined with proprietary software + swing robot. So say the robot is set to 95mph and all variables are equal other than COR & CG the distance will still vary. Some drivers are longer than others and that applies to SLE vs SLE & Non Conforming vs Non Conforming. The brands are not all at the SLE limit for COR, they have durability/warranty issues in mind especially in the U.S, same as the US brands making shaft tips .350 for durability instead of .335 while negligible has a tiny effect on feel and shaft activeness. Some materials are more durable with thinner faces than others and some materials & designs have higher ball speeds and better rebound numbers as well, Another example would be Ryoma even conforming faces have a tendency to crack under high swing speeds this is not because of the COR it's because of the design and material of the face you can see that as good or bad I guess. So I wouldn't want to dumb down the conversation by saying due to COR being near the limit one design or material can't be hotter than the other. Lastly I will say look at how marketing in the USA is done vs Japan: USA = Gain 15 yards with the new hotter brandX driver, Get more distance and adjust (click click) so your golf partners says wow! Japan = By moving 30 grams back and lifting the CG we have increased forgiveness and workability for more distance, our patented forged cup face made of a new S700 blend produces more rebound than previous models. Across the board not only in golf you see this, Mazda Miata commercial in USA vs Miata commercial in Japan one is about the fun the other is about the specifics and finally food to me is the biggest example of how two countries view quality of materials, preparation and pride differently. Take a Japanese person to wallmart to buy their produce, poultry and meats, they will smile out of politeness yet in their heads they are thinking how could anyone sell this crap.
  14. Oh yea here is a sneak peak from the JPGA on what Ako-san is working on next:
  15. Below is the original, yes small head, lower trajectory, straighter for and less distance. This is very much like a driving iron with wood like attributes where as the new PROTO is like a compact players hybrid wood.
  16. Absolutely one of the best players Hybrids I have ever laid my hands on, The A-Grind UT PROTO. Currently A-Grind has 2 Hybrid Wood style clubs and 1 driving iron design and personally I think this is the better option of the three if your looking for a more traditional hybrid. For those new to A-Grind: Let's start with the man himself Yusuke Ako-san who was the lead designer for Royal Collection from 2004 to 2013 for all their clubs including woods, irons, wedges, and utilities. He is the man! after years working for someone else he decided to branch off focusing his efforts and years of knowledge on A-Grind Golf. The result has been a brand that creates some of the best players fairway woods and utilities clubs today, not to mention unreal performing wedges, blades, and cavity backs. As you can see in the above photo this thing just sets up like a gem, I've been hitting a demo club Ako-san sent me recently and can suggest it with confidence for any player that prefers a compact, square setup at address. Let's talk about feel while you look at it's perfectly shaped face profile, it's soft with a dense crunch to it, the ball pops off the face well it's got a 455 Stainless Face with a 17-4 stainless body which is what the better player wants for the best combo of feel, spin, and workability. I found it very easy to pick clean off the ground and no problems getting it in the air, its slightly shallow but not too much I would rank this as the most beautiful face profile of any Hybrid I've seen.. ever! It's for sure designed around feel & workability, distance is average, you really shouldn't be focused on distance with a hybrid like this. I consider this a purists club. Forgiveness is very good I would attribute that to its face depth & shape, it being slightly shorter heel to toe and a sole design that just flat out works. I also think the slight cut up or cut away near the rear keeps this as a mid trajectory lower spin more workable format. Now comparing it to other woods I have hit, lets start with my specs, I'm playing the 22* with a Fujikura MCH 70 Stiff Flex and it's fantastic. My main gamer is the Modart MA01H 19* with the old school Crazy Black UT wedge shaft my absolute favorite UT shaft unfortunately no longer available, Due to the shaft I am still more accurate with the Modart so that is what I play but this A-Grind head is so good it has made me on multiple occasions want to tear apart my beloved Modart combo to test the CB UT shaft in it. In feel it wins, forgivness it wins, even distance but what I value most in a UT no matter the loft is how close I can get it to the pin. It's not a good comparison but the best one I have for you right now. Loft vs Loft with the same shaft at the same specs is the only way to truly know which I prefer. The A-Grind UT PROTO is comes in 3 lofts 17/19.5/22* my recommended shafts are Fujikura MCH and TRPX UT although nearly any shaft that fits your swing should work perfectly with this head. If you need a custom build or are interested with questions please contact [email protected] ( this head used in the photo shoot is also available as well )
  17. Don't worry about the store, I can get everything, some stuff even prior to release. Yes I will add it to the store and make a post about these today as I've had more than a few rounds with it.
  18. As in lack of a killed leading edge? imo killed leading edge is an add on for steep swingers that also works with shallow swingers and not a pre requisite for someone with a steep angle of attack. Most classic irons or even irons a decade back did not have them either, its something people have grown accustomed to more recently imo. But yes if your on the extreme end of steep and it's wet and soft a killed leading edge would be helpful.
  19. Based on what you mention it would be: A-Grind Proto My personal favorite Modart MA01H
  20. Played a round with these recently and they feel right, nice mild soft impact, fairly short heel to toe, minimal offset, top line not thick yet not skinny, just all around fantastic set of Irons. And Keita Miyoshi-san (owner of Yururi) want's TSG'ers to know SEIDA is a separate brand of Yururi which will be growing in the future under the K-GEKKU umbrella brand. Next up I will be posting pics of the Black Seida Wedges.
  21. Welcome to the forums sir, this model is no longer sold. It was replaced by the 455LX Type-R but that said their best driver is the RomaRo Alpha based on customer feedback it's longer distance across the board high trajectory/fairly low spin. One thing you can do is put a higher spin higher launching shaft in it to help you get your launch angle up.
  22. RomaRo Alpha no doubt, easy up, very long, very straight, just slightly larger than a compact hybrid and doesn't look all that funky. In terms of forgivenss and distance it's still the Ryoma U that reigns supreme, not the absolute easiest for turf contact and easy up but still super easy compared to most, downside is the rounded and larger shape.
