Yamaha Driver Thread!!!
Here's a question for the Yammy experts : Is the latest always the greatest? How does the 4.6V, V201 and V202 compare against each other in terms of launch angle, spin, carry, roll and forgiveness. Not referring to the tour versions of the V201 and V202. All assuming a loft of 10* and same shaft. If anyone has hit a Ryoma V-Spec 9.5 or a JBeam 435 10.5, would be ideal to share comparisons on the same parameters against these heads too. Will be going for another demo of the V202 later but have no chance to hit a 4.6V or V201. Thanks in advance.

New Epon AF-103
Can someone give calrity on what the 103 is supposed to do? I am reading to give more spin and launch than the Zero and targeted at maybe the not so atheletic golfer that the Zero demanded and maybe better feel than the 102 which supposedly didn't do well... So we are back to the 101?

Yamaha Driver Thread!!!
Based on the crappy range balls, I would say the V202 stick combo spun more than the 435 RD combo evident by the added roll of the 435 but not by much. 435 is 10.5 tre loft and Yamaha is 10* and from what I read ever, should be true loft. The Yamaha felt better than the 435 though but the results jsust was not better then the 435 for distance in a consistent basis but was a lot better on dispersion than the 435.

Does 10-15 grams make such a big difference in distance and dispersion?
THe ball flight of the V202 was consistently lower than the 435 but only slightly. Strong trajectories especially into the wind today. I'm not sure about the swing weight of the V202 with the stock shaft but I think I wil find it a tad heavy (static weight) as the round progresses as mt RD is 40+ grams which is why I am thinking of a 50+ gram FEX.

I posted my demo results today in the Yamaha driver thread but thought it would be applicable here too. Would be interested to get the thoughts of the club fitting hobbyists and professionals here... I managed to demo the v202 10* with stock TourAD LV shaft in SR flex and the D202 10.5* with stock R flex. Both were hit side by side with my 435 RD S flex and all played to 46 inches. It became apparent quickly that the D202 was not. Too much spin but felt good. The V202 however has a lot of potential and I wonder if it comes down to shaft weight. Now the V202 was not longer than my current setup but could match the distance on several occasions. Here's the revelation... the V202 with the stock shaft was much tighter in dispersion. over 40+ crapy range balls and into the wind, I must have hooked my setup about 3 times and faded it about another 2 or 3 times. With the V202 stock shaft, no hooks and only 1 slight fade but most of the time, it went down the corridor. my Jbeam 435 RD however noticeably rolled more and both carried about the same distance with the 435 carrying longer but just slightly. So, 435 RD was clearly longer consistently but not by much. From what I can see maybe 5-10 metros when it is longer BUT dispersion it clearly lost out to the V202 with stock SR shaft. Now could the dispersion be down to the shaft as in the weight difference as the RD is a 40 + gram shaft and the stock Tour AD LV in the V202 is supposed to be a 60+ gram shaft. Could that 15 +/- gram difference in the shaft make such a difference in dispersion? Its not about flex as well in this case as both felt about the same. Does a stock shaft outperform the highly rated and much more expensive Crazy RD shaft? Again, it's not longer but tighter. Interesting outcome that makes me wonder if a slightly heavier 50+ gram shaft in my 435 would be better dispersion wise without sacrificing distance and if perhaps a 50+ gram shaft in the V202 would give better distance without comproising dispersion. Things on a Sunday afternoon that make you go hmmmm....

Yamaha Driver Thread!!!
Just stumbled on this thread and of course I am interested and late to the party: What will be the equivalent Yamaha Models AND LOFTS to the following heads please: 1. JBeam 435 10.5* 2. Ryoma V-Spec 9.5* 3. Epon AF 101 9.5* Also, is the V202 that much more demanding than the D202? Thanks i advance.

388 yards... wow... i think...

Driver Confusion!!!
If you want point and shoot, I would go with the Ryoma Premia. I have played the V-spec and for some reason, the Premia is a whole lot more forgiving. Now that's the head. Don't forget getting a shaft that suits your profile as well.

All gone thanks TSG
And you shouldn't need to change your swing for a club. Good luck with the sale.

Wow, that was quick. What about the ST did you find that did not quite find your liking?

Zen Putters from the UK
Putted one for a while with their graphite/carbon alloy mix shaft and it felt great. Heads are supposed to be 303 steel forged but not sure where. On a putting mat, the roll seemed very true. Anyone tried and still putting with it? If not, what made you give it up? Thanks.
