Big question; is it nice?? So many nice driver options these days including Mizzy and Cobra's new US driver lineup, just want to make sure it's worth the money.

Quick question guys, doe's this baby launch true to spec or high in 10.5*? Is the face square or closed? Thanks guys, really thinking about purchasing one (wanted one ever since it's introduction).

Nice shaft always a bonus but head only works fine too.
  4. No; these are the GD Tour AD Pro's.
  5. OK; my first experience was today at the range (25+ mph winds) and it was a real test. My primary concerns with graphite iron shafts is usually build related; consistancy and swingweight. Well; they turned out very nice. The swingweight fell in the D2 range (good) and the shafts matched up quite well. The proof was truly in the pudding; they felt wonderful and had zero issues with spin/ballooning. I was able to control ballflight and distance with no problem and thats impressive considering the kind of wind I was dealing with. Even my buddy (high spin guy) on the Nationwide Tour was impressed. The feel is truly to die for; I'm now very excited about my match in the morning. I will give you my final impressions after they spend a while in the bag but early signs are positive. It's amazing how far the graphite iron shaft market has progressed. I feel the shaft Co.'s miss the boat in regards to the better players because they are stuck in the "nobody will pay the upcharge" routine. Trust me I hear this every single time I speak with one of the shaft guys. WHEN PROPERLY FIT it is my feeling that more golfers could take advantage of the many benefits these shafts have to offer there games including increased clubhead speed and launch which typically means improved distance and scoring.
  6. With the right shaft (and a very accomplished club tech) I think you might be very suprised at how much you will like them. My guess would be it wouldn't take long before the rest follow. These offerings are truly getting better and better. The long irons are the easiest to transition because the swingweights aren't as difficult to obtain and we can all benefit from a bit of ball height in the 3-5 irons right.

I think you should play them now; treat yourself and you might be suprised! Think about the look on your golf buddies faces...
  8. I've had lengthy conversions with people in the know and the AD Pro's are still the top dogs. I'm shafting a set of Srixon Pro-100's with them as we speak and should have them back today actually. Let's hope they are worth the price in gold they cost me to acquire them for this club project. I can tell you this from early shafting and frequency analysis (X-flex); they are "progressive" in everyway. CPM's are in the very soft range in the 4 and 5 iron then jump into more of a traditional stiff flex moving forward. Pretty big jumps between the 5 and 6 then again in the lower irons. This is a very traditional approach to club making but I'm still concerned with the large jump in CPM's. My guys indicate that the frequencies can be misleading due to Graphite Designs in house method of analysis (GD Flex) which is more focussed on a target number as it relates to the overall profile from Butt to tip. Whatever; the proof will be in the pudding; hopefully they will be consistant in play. I'm OK with it because I'm a low to mid spin player so the softer long irons should help my game. On a HO note; they are a sexy setup! I was torn between what irons I wanted to shaft up; thought about my Miura's but that setup is pure already with teal Tour Concepts (awesome shafts); why mess with success. Just as a footnote; my pursuite of graphite in irons is long and vast. In the early days these shafts where inconsistant to flex, poor overall tip profiles and very hard to control but they are getting much better. the best option I've found to date are the MFS 115's (relatively inexpensive all things considered) so this is what I will set the bar against. If these AD Pro's are not superior then it was truly money wasted as the 115's are far less expensive. Please keep in mind that my swing profile is smooth but aggressive and I play most of my irons with TC S3's. I'm a low handicaper looking for consistancy and a medium ball flight. I WILL NOT accept shafts that produce flyers and hinder my ability to hit greens in regulation. A 200yrd 6 iron does me zero good in this regard. My goal is to produce steel like results with the smooth refined benefits of graphite. I suffer from pain in my fingers and joints from years of banging balls in the damp cool weather in Cleveland, Ohio. These are my primary reasons for exploring the graphite iron market; hope some of you can benefit from my experience with these models as well. More to come...
  9. I kinda like it; why not try something a bit different. It almost looks a bit racing inspired. I do like the size; 445cc sounds just about right.
  10. While I always lean towards Tourstage (old Ho's die hard!) they are not the most forgiving irons in the world so I give my vote to Miura; always the poop!

Thanks, that is exactly what I want to hear. As you mentioned in a previous post; it makes life so much easier already being taper tip and spined. You are correct; the strongest point of the spine is marked clearly in silver marker so again pretty easy. I'm interested to see how the technical aspects of the built finish like swingweight and overall flex profile. It's always a bit tricky and misleading with graphite iron shafts because they do not always repond the same as steel regardless of cpm's so the real test becomes the course. Will they be consistant throughout the set, easy to control and flight, etc. Time will tell but I'm clearly hoping for a winnner here!

After asking a million questions (thanks by the way) about highend graphite iron shafts for the better player (heavy/stiff/high kickpoint, etc) I finally decided on GD Tour AD Pro's. I just recieved my shafts and at first glance "WOW" is all I can say. these babies scream serious J Spec quality down to the laser ingraved serial numbers on each individual shaft and the manner in which care was taken to finish off the tip ends as well. Looking at the tip design and overall shaft profile I'm very excited about the prospect of building these irons. This will be my first venture into the Tour AD line so if anyone has feedback or advice it would be very welcome. I haven't decided on what iron set I'm going to load up but have limited it to my Srixon Pro-100's or my old faithful Miura CB-201's. I will definitely do a full review once I've had a bit of time to practice and game these incredible looking shafts. I will add pics when they are completed so more to come including the overall profile of the iron set (length, swingweight, etc). One thing I can say right now, these guys do not come cheap. As my guy states, if you want a Mercedes you have to pay for it right?
  13. When I first purchased my T3 Black it was shafted with there version of Reg flex. I recieved it one morning just prior to leaving for golf so decided to game it with a smooth swing. Well here you go; it felt very nice and managed to hold up to my higher swing speed quite nicely thank you. Many folks would really like there stock shaft offering, trust me. Just reinforces what I already know; PRGR screams high quality.

Now those are very interesting balls! The concept makes sense if you are a NASA engineer!

Do you remember when the Euros had smaller balls? Over time there balls grew to normal size.

Doesn't mean you can question his offer, you asked and he responded. He can ask as much as he desires; if it doesn't float your boat then don't buy it!
  17. Professionally pulled from a set of Tourstage X-Blade CB2's played maybe a few rounds if that. The shafts are flawless and look perfect. They are still gripped with the factory Tourstage red cap grips also in mint condition. I would consider anything cool including nice X-flex shafts, 33' putters, Tourstage or PRGR carry bags, you name it! Send PM's guys...

Good, sounds like I'm on track then. I really like the look of that Epon putter gocchin...classy.

So you are talking $700-$800 for a set of shafts; that's gonna leave a mark! I guess these babies are real deal. I will take a butique set of exotic J specs shafted up with black G's please...$4800 no problem! I feel qualified to say this illness costs a lot of money...

I have another question; I hear form a very reliable source that GD Japan offerred a shaft a few yrs back called something like the Black G's maybe? I guess they are very expensive and very hard to find but that these are the best graphite shaft option they have ever produced. I guess the paint job was awesome; kinda ion into a black tip section...cool.

Awesome guys, knowing GD Japan it doesn't surpise me a bit that they are awesome. It's really nice as well that they offer them in taper tip and progressive weighting. Really makes builting them tight pretty easy and as long as they are consistant from a frequency standpoint then no worries at all. I'm a pretty mid to low spin guys so ballooning sounds out as well....cool. Can someone post a quick pic of the Pro's for an old HO please. Oh yeah, as long as I can get them somewhere in the D2-D3 range then I'm pumped! In relation to cost; I don't even want to think about the cash invested in these! Tourstage XBlade CB2's with GD Tour AD Pro's; ouch! Gonna be nice however...

I'm considering shafting my new TS CB2's with these in X-flex and was looking for feedback from the experts. I live in a cold weather state and my hands and joints are showing signs of it taking it toll (they hurt). I practice and play all winter so a nice players CB setup with sweet graphite iron shafts are a must for me. I'm also looking for technical details like issues with getting up to swingweight, overall length, etc. If these balloon please let me know that as well...thanks guys.
  23. I think the new Epon 301's look super myself. The CB2's would still get the nod as well...
  24. I'm getting closer and closer to making my first purchase of a TS driver, they keep getting better! God knows the irons are nice. I'm a fade bias guy so I too wish they made the 460P in 10.5*. Problem is when you open a driver face up and the actual loft is 9.5* it ends up in the 8* range which is kinda tough for mere mortals (especially short ones like me!). Chris you have there ear, what do they say?
  25. gus replied to gus's post in a topic in Want To Buy
I found them; mods close thread.
