  1. a little more flash to these irons.. or curb appeal.. excellent pictures and look forward to trying these out.. amoung the many others out there.. too many choices..
  2. when going to graphite in the irons-- 1st ? what do you want to spend.. anywhere from $28 to 128+ starting point>. ust rv.2 115's, aldila nv 105, than look upward.. accra, graphite design, fujikura, matrix etc...
  3. i am in the other camp.. if you HAVE to do something.. drill the head out to fit. just do not like sanding down a graphite shaft to fit. if the guy has a drill press - no big deal.. and not to sound careless-- it will be better. just me..
  4. solid shaft. not sure it will be THAT much of difference from the SIX.. 6 is a real tried and true winner.. played the 6xo6 and really like.. burner tp with ine and i get a nice mid launch with good control.. tighter feel or control >. 6wo6 may be the ticket..
  5. singleDG listed a few truths.. wide sole > ball gets airborne quick- combo set.. 3,4,5 in the wide sole design and slim in the rest. i think the wide sole's take the feel or shot making ability out of the short irons.

the black golds are a very smooth feeling shaft-- rifle feel to them -- good the experiment went well..
  7. Hence i will walk'

smoother tip feel in the flighted set IN the long irons only. once you hit the 6 iron down they are the same shaft. long iorns only have a smoother and higher launch. Only difference. need or want all the irons to fly a tad higher>>>> PX HL high luanch are the ticket.. hope this helped
  9. lighht weight steel would have to be used.. nippon 850h, true temper gs 75 .. light grips, heads may need to be drilled some - and shorter.. than the graphite set. i imagine you have them a tad longer.. email one of the moderators and they will lead in the right direction.

stiff flex ozik F7M2.. very nice!!!
  11. excellent-- but how much!!
  12. play the nx-1's with PX 5.5's.. 170-180 club.. 5 iron swing speed is 86-88.. switched from DG S-300's 6 yrs ago and happy happy. better control, flatter flight and a few yrds gained. specs> 37.5, D5 swing weight .. a tad heavy but i like my clubs - iron, wedges that way.. lighter swing weight of say D1-2 -- i loose the feel for the clubin the swing.. overswing .. as info only

just as info: i can reshaft with anythinig out there almost> matrix, fujikura, accra, mitsubushi -- hickory stik' thanks
  14. 1.5'' should be fine. if you have a quick or strong player - tip 2'' and for better control.

want distance you look at lighter and longer length.. look at the rombax 5w -- light weight but a firm profile all the way threw the shaft-- good for an aggressive swing. and try 45.5'' length.. or the tour AD but you need a stiff flex with your swing speed. work on core exercises and and get a swing trainer>> speed stik or heavy momentus - best i have used so far.
  16. both are very close.. with the edge going to the code 8.. now-- to get a lower or more penetrating flight i like a firmer tip section for you. xcon 7 stiff flex at 45''......... even though it reads high launch the stiff tip -- promotes a mid-high flat shot pattern.. a tad lighter weight and a stiff flex.. to handle control.. but if not - i lean towards the code 8.

DO NOT DO IT-- you will eventually have a very expensive baby rattle.. once the foam hardens and dry's out-- it breacks apart and rattle city..
  18. no tip trimming.. at 45'' it will play out fine.. any longer and yes you may wish to tip it some. hope this helps..

rick what loft are you lookking for. have a 60* in a spinner 5.5... thanks

the rombax series has a firmer tip feel over all. so even with the higher torgue it plays beefier' if that makes sense. very tight shot dispersion i get with them and thus i feel do work better with the larger cc heads. if the upgrade for th enew rombax is not to much.. i think you will like it.
  23. the xcon series is very nice but i have to go back the code series for best kick or 'hinge effect' the company talks about.. for me the best shaft.

    1) going longer in length -- your correct in going stiffer flex.. better control 2)heavier shaft-- keeps some people more connected - more mass hitting the ball also 3)still can use the stock shafts and butt cut only to length-- never tip trim the PX shafts... hope thi s helps.
  25. not 100% sure on the red board tipping instructions.. go by what the company says to do.. if it says 2'' than tip cut it 2'' and install.. after drying.. mark at 43'' or what ever length you want to make it -- butt trim for length.. have the proper epoxy, ferrule than your set.. have fun.
