Stew, I can only share my experience with you on a similar situation. I had a brand new set of Miura 201 CB with nspro 850 a few years ago but just could not hit them properly on the course. I found out the the stock Miura head is 2 degree flat and yet I have a very upright swing or at least how my iron contact the ground. You wouldn't think being 5' 6" in height would require a more upright lie angle but with that small adjustment, I was able to hit the irons without any problem. I did notice your swing on the GTI video and it does look like a steep angle of attack. Unfortunately most range in Japan is not off real grass hence more difficult to demo this aspect. I would suggest take a 7 iron and adjust the lie and see whether it works.
  2. Totally lost for words....just keep safe all.
  3. Hope you and your family are okay. Is the refinery fire at Chiba affecting you? I am also watching live relay of NHK which is totally scary.
  4. C, he knew he was buying a fake R7 but have never heard of Crazy so he wasn't looking for one in particular. The driver he got just happen to be shafted with a Crazy 80.
  5. I have seen and actually tried a fake Crazy about year and half ago. My friend bought a new R7 with the Crazy 80 for $200 at Shenzhen, China. He knew the R7 head is fake but have never heard of Crazy shafts as he is not a club ho or any knowledge of current JDM stuff. I was totally surprised to see the Crazy/R7 combo at that price and knew immediately the shaft was a fake too. I was equally surprised that they would bother to make fake Crazy at all since it was such a cult product or a very narrow market segment at the time. This was all before I ordered my own Crazy Longest Yard from TSG last year.

Hey T, do you want your Fourteen back? Its still sitting in my basement.
  7. Frank, On the subject of Japanese single malt, you should get a bottle of Yoichi 1990 before it is sold out.
  8. Take a look at the Geotech GT custom special grind forged wedges. They are forged in Japan has 53, 56 and 58 in 8* bounce.
  9. I guess one could argue that a 54* is really a gap instead of a sand. Now I have a 4 wedge combo, pitching at 45*, A at 51*, a 54 and 58.
  10. I started to carry two sand wedges recently, a 54* low bounce at 7* for pitching and chipping and 58* high bounce solely for sand play. With this combination, my 51* gap wedge have not seen too much play lately. As to JDM wedges, Fourteen has some low bounce wedges such as the J-spec 54* at 7*.

IMO the Nowon is better than Iomic. You could try the Nowon Expert but if not mistaken the Nowon comes in 48 too.
  12. Didn't know it has a 2 doors version or is it just a show car?
  13. It would have been a steal even at $500.

Seriously, my game is in such shamble nowadays, a cannon wouldn't help.

Too much trouble just to bring one club unless you bring a whole set and play a few games with me at HKGC.

B, Since you have identical shaft on both, do you have a preference of one over the other? Love to try your new Ryoma sometime since we play the same shaft.
  17. It is not the cost that dictates the merit or suitability of the shaft. I had the Crazy for a month and just could not make it work then switched to FE with almost the same spec and couldn't be happier. At the same time, Roddio does nothing for me while the Machline Proto is one of my favourites at half the cost of the Roddio. Unfortunately getting a premium shaft is always a small risk if you don't have a chance to test it before hand.
  18. Not saying the V forged is a blade since I have had a set.
  19. I do not have the pleasure of hitting the VG3 yet but I am just assuming relative forgiveness since it has a pocket cavity vs. just a small cavity/blade like with the V forged. For sure, the V forged is very sweet when struck well. Then I am referring to the one with the Tour AD graphite.
  20. To be quite honest, I am not 100% sure that the V forged or even the VG3 would be particularly friendly to a 26 handicapper. Then one school of thought is to go with the more difficult irons starting out and anything comes after would be easier.
  21. I agree absolutely with ant that the average golfing consumers wouldn't care about swing plane or squaring the face. They are spending money to buy a game and distance. This is particularly true in Japan of which most JDM gears are targeting. Golf is a marketing business and JDM companies would design their lines or clubs to cater to the largest volume and not to those very small minority club 'ho. If you are young and strong, I suspect that you would sing a different tune but if you are in the 70's, you would try to buy a game or almost anything to gain back so lost distance. My brother just turned 80 and he is playing a 47" driver so he can at least keep up with the 60 years old. I guess he is good enough to adjust his swing plane to adopt to the extra length. Young and strong players would or should continue to use small head and short driver but thats not the majority of the JDM market.

Since you are in Japan, why not just get the Nikon with quality built lens. I have the 350 which was cheaper than the Bushnell and just as fast in fixing on target with its own pin seeking technology. When it comes to optics, it would be either Japanese or German. If you opt for German optics then get the super sleek Leica Range Finder.
  23. Because the Egg is JDM and most if not all JDM are spec at D0 to D1 (for the Japanese market) throughout the set including utilities. If you are looking for USDM spec on JDM gear, you almost have to custom it.
  24. C, I built a set of the CB for a friend using your old AXIV shafts and they are indeed very good. The Saqra is really a ball striker's delight with a soft yet very crisp precise feel with no 'mushiness' to them at all. I personally do not have any issue withe the reverse offset on the short irons.

Isn't GMA has something to do with Jumbo Osaki ?
