WOW!!!! Sweet, SWEET Putter!!!! I predict you are going to LOVE it. I'm jealous and I own two of the Golds premium zone insert beauties. Finest Putters in all the land. Congratulations. and now... the wait.
  2. As much as the feel, (which IMO is fantastic) it's the way it rolls the ball. "Skidding" is almost eliminated. The ball rolls true. As far as the material the insert is made out of... I hadn't really thought much about this... I think we need Gocchin to do some translating for us on exactly what the material of the insert is made out of. I think the insert is made out of SS303 not aluminum... Conformation of insert material to follow soon....

I figured with that big sweet spot I would be able to go after it a bit more and perhaps pick up a couple of extra yards... Be fun to try anyway.

I know it's coming soon... I'd love to see a bunch more pictures with specs. I've been planning on getting one. Only problem is... as of late I'm hitting my current (Epon) driver so well it might have to break in order for me to replace it!!!!! I have more than fallen in love with the Roddio shaft too.

They look like a set of Palmer "standards" I played with in the mid 80's Tiny, unforgiving blade with S300 shafts that were pin and glued into place. I can only imagine what the difference in feel would be like with these beauties....
  6. sheeeesh!!! that pretty well covers those questions!!! The only thing you left out is that these are the finest Putters in the World
  7. This Putter with the original head cover has become more of a collectors Putter rather than a gamer. It has been bringing approx. $800-1,000 on e-bay. I can honestly say that I don't know anyone who plays with this Putter as it is considered a collectable.
  8. Wet towel, wipe the club after each shot... no need for a brush of any kind.
  9. I've won a bunch of bets already.. just because this Putter (the black one) http://forum.tourspecgolf.com/index.php?showtopic=24160 is still in the bag. I'm well known for having a different Putter every couple of weeks. The Putter pictured above just sits because as far as I know it is the first Putter to be created by the Master with this combination. After receiving this Putter and Putting a couple of rounds, I sent back my Black gamer to have the same insert installed. NOTHING and I mean NOTHING compares to the feel, roll, set up and anything else you can think of. Putting has become the most consistent part of my game and it is the Putter. I simply can't say enough about how much I love this set up. Sorry to say that the Bett 1st Art just doesn't compare... it is a beautiful Putter, feels and rolls the ball very nicely but... Gimme the Golds baby.. just gimme the Golds!!!!!! I just returned from the Golf Channel Amateur Tour Finals in Florida. On more than one occasion I had people comment on my Putting and how they wished they could Putt as consistently as I do. Trust me when I tell you, it is the Putter!!!!!!!! I could go on and on about how much I love these Putters but I don't want to bore anyone to tears. If you want to Putt with the Ultimate (IMO) Putter, get your specs together and have the Master build you one of these Putters, they are the best Putter PERIOD, that will improve your game. Did I mention how much I love this Putter??? How amazing the roll is??? Feel???
  10. I've played with them twice. I knew I was going to play on a very soft conditions course so I took them out to play. I didn't warm up (hit a range ball) with them. First shot was a 4 iron. Hit it really well and it carried the distance almost perfectly. GREAT feel. I was actually surprised and am very impressed with the irons. Except for a couple of slight scratches on the bottom of the PW they still look new. If I was going to use them as my gamers or a set I would play a lot I would switch out the shafts. They have the S200's stiff flex which I actually like much better than I thought I would... but for me the black golds is what I would put in them. Great set.. I almost wish they weren't so rare so I would be able to get myself to use them more. Still waiting for my custom AF301's.... would love to do a comparison when I do. Right now my J's are working quite nicely, thank you. Not for sale... although I guess I would entertain offers..
  11. Just say where and when and I'll be there

IMO.. We buy different clubs to see if the new one you buy will be better than the one you have in the bag. Sometimes I buy a club just to own it, other times I buy the club to see if it improves my game. In the case of the Chikara's, I bought the wedges to see if they would help my game. At this point it doesn't really matter if they are the hot topic of conversation or not. Bottom line, they are still in my bag. I am playing extremely well with them and until something comes along that can knock them out they will stay in the bag. When the Epon wedges with the custom grinds are offered, I will try a couple of different ones in the constant search for the very best clubs FOR MY GAME. I don't know this for a fact but I'd be willing to bet that Tad is being paid to play Vokey... which is the main reason a player plays the clubs he plays. I have enough Vokey wedges to start up a museum. None of them compare to the Chikara's... or Epons... or Zodia... or Golds... or.... but I have to admit I'd probably play them (vokey) if I was paid too...

If that set up performs half as good as it looks your handicap is going to come way down. Congrats on a sweet custom set. Looking forward to the reviews.

That is pure Class!!!!!!!! Looks great. Congratulations
  15. Aaahhhh but I have... several!!!! None have been able to take this baby out of my bag. I thought for sure the Bett pictured below would take it out of the bag. NO WAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! My Golds Factory just absolutely rules!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'll bet TSG sells a bunch of these Putters after the folks at the Golf Channel Finals (Oct 7-13th) see this Putter in action. I'm that good AND most importantly, confident with it. Like Walter Brennen used to say... No brag, just fact!!!!
  16. I've decided that anyone that wants my Golds Putter can have it.... After they pry it out of my dead cold hands!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. AAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH I can't take it.... I want my AF301's!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! But then again.. I still love my J's I took out a set of custom Mizuno's to the golf course today.... Just don't do it compared to the EPON's
  18. NEVER say never....
  19. My guess is that the 2 dot are 54* The Chikara dots are 1 dot 52* 3 dot 57* 4 dot 60* makes me think the 2 dot is 54*?? anyone confirm?? FWIW... I am hitting the most unbelievable wedge shots with the Chikara's... When I wanted to laser a distance of about 50-60yards today the guy I was playing with said it was all about "feel". I told him that was BS because I have been practicing my wedge distances and if know exactly how far it is I know which wedge to hit. I used the range finder.... 56 yards to the pin.. used my 60* and stuck it about 3 feet from the pin. So much for feel!!!!!!!!

I was going to ask the same thing.....
  21. My yardages stack up this way... obviously these are average conditions. I have learned to hit my Driver with a nice high fade on soft fairways and lower draws on harder fairways to try and get the most distance possible. As a general rule I hit the ball mostly straight. Driver 275ish 3 wood 230-240 - 15* 5 wood 215-225 - 18* 9 wood 190-210 - 22* 4 iron 180-185 - 24* 5 iron 170-175 - 27* 6 iron 160-165 - 31* 7 iron 150-155 - 35* 8 iron 140-145 - 39* 9 iron 130-135 - 43* PW 110-125 - 47* GW 80-100 - 51* SW 60-75 - 55* LW under 60 - 60* Around the green I use just about anything and everything depending on the lie and how much Green I have to work with. I like to roll the ball as much as possible. I use the Putter from just off the Green when ever the lie allows me too. Also, depending on the Golf course I pull either the 3 wood, 5 wood or 4 iron to keep the max of 14 clubs. If I absolutely need the longer clubs I will reluctantly pull the LW. With the clubs I have in the bag at this moment my yardages have never been more consistent. One other thing that has helped my game as much as anything is a range finder. Knowing exactly how far I need to hit it has helped me dial in my yardages and given me the confidence to hit the shot knowing I have the right club in my hand.
  22. Long story short, I am unable to post comparitive pictures tonight. I will get them posted Monday. Comparing the two irons side by side, the J's do have a bit less offset. Not much, but it is noticable with the naked eye. The sole from heel to toe is much narrower also. The top line of the toe is slightly taller as well. Keep in mind I am comparing the MB's to the Technity's not the new AF301's. Here is a quote from Chris that appears in another thread. "The replacement for the Type J the AF-301 looks very similar to the J but when i measured dimensions with a digital caliper their was less space between the top line and the top grooves meaning its a hair more compact but nothing I could notice without the caliper. Also and I may be wrong the offset seems a tad less."
  23. I currently own both sets. Assuming the Techinica Pro 1's are similar to the new 301's. IMO, I think the Pro 1's are a much better iron. To me, they feel more solid and are slightly more forgiving. I can't comment on ball flight as they have different shafts from each other. For a 10 cap the Epons are the better irons. For a scratch player, with the right shaft, the MB's may be the better irons. If working the ball is not what you're looking for the Epons are the way to go. Offset is very similar, will be home later today to compare.... I will edit this post tonight with comparisons in size and offset. I don't think there is a better looking iron than the Gauge MB's.

They will rust. If you don't want them to... When you finish your round or practice session wipe them down and let them dry completely. I then wipe them down with a Camereon oil cloth. You can also coat them with a thin coat of baby oil. Be sure and wipe the baby oil off the face before you hit a ball wth it. Other ways are here http://forum.tourspecgolf.com/index.ph...25411&st=50
