What's the most forgiving one piece forged irons?
supo replied to nobmontana's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
well nobs , if u dont mind a blast from the past.... i mean the reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeal past. as far as ive ever hit or ever will hit prgr data 801. full soft forged by endo japan no less. if u want a slightly more conventional , slightly more modern set the yamaha 2010 inpres x are a wonderfull set, those are the ones i came back from injury with this season, with the NSv90 reg i was going to sell them , or change he shafts but they just worked so well i cant think now why i wud, they will also be a set hard to beat come mid winter with that shaft combo. the data 801s are with the prgr made for by NS. cant fault those. the head may look like a bucket from a 30ton front end loader on a mining site in the kimberleys , but they hit the ball just fine! -
hahahaha.. ordinarily i wub trade some of my cbs for these for sure BUT... im out for the season. so no more blades do i need......

sigh... what a set , monacco S is a fabtastic combo! , i built a non copper 7 iron which i "lost" as a tester and thought it was one of my better buillds. impact is sublime and the guuuuuuuuuuuuush u get from the middle is up there with anything! exquisite build here~!!

the staff bags were for driving to golf whch doesnt happen much anymore , a new supermarket on the golf road turned a quick easy 60min drive to the course to a 4 hr ordeal , never to be repeated................... and wil never play those courses again!!!!! so i use travelling train bags 99% of the time these days. kino.......a cpl of honma tw....... (the best ) onoff they ever made by a mile the staffers ust hold my clubs these days. for looks. good bags tho.

Well said nobs... they are excellent shafts right from the stock daiwa mp to the rpddio pro range. Ive used a ton of these over the years, the pentacross are as good a shaft as an intermediate insert as anyones. As a generalisation they feel VERY glassy, ,very electric in the fingers at impact. they are the oppostie of dull, one always feels they are getting max bang for the buck with them in hand. have no fears what so ever buying these. the roddio labospec line that came out a cpl of yrs ago are a step up , https://onoff.globeride.co.jp/club/labo-spec-shaft/ theres somehting here for everyone.

Gamed both R/C drivers on sat, hit a lot of balls.......................... not an overly long course but lots of uphill/down hill and pretty straight so from t he tee length was pretty important, and gave me a pretty spot on evidence of distance with both these , both are good ,they are not behind my others really but the difference in flight and attraction to swing is VERY marked. i know the 11* pretty well as ive played this a LOT OVER SUMMER , this thing i can do any and everything i want to it , its really quite special but the 9* is new and it need some breaking in, think thats done now and im happy with what i know about it., its A LOT different to the 11* build. basically, the 11* waccine is ultra versatile, the 9* diamana ,not so. The 11* i can tee it higher or lower for what ever high bomb /stinger shot i like to see and can move it either way with ease , a LOT , for some thats not a good thing, for me its everything. The 11* prefers to be hit with with a cut as draws CAN and do get over excited and tend to go quite a way left......... i really need to aim right to get the draw going with it The 9* with the diamana X 70s is a point shoot driver, it REALLY , really .................doesnt like to ambi-turn . its a small draw, at best , no more than a cpl of yards, or a batted fade more oft than not, good shots are rewarded with a feeling and sound of unmistakeable, hard to replicate purity, this shaft WORKS in this head, better than any other head ive got it in , the feeling is , well, the impact is................ ( ahhhhhhhhhhhhh not like ive done this ) ... BUT but mental picy of holding onto a 10000 hoard of yellow jacket wasps and being stung simultanesouly but instead of pain, u get massive a release of dopamine in the hands ! Its totally addicitive , WAY WAY WAY more so than the waccine. way more so than almost everying i can think of actually! In a shell: the 9* is longer and straighter, the 11* is the versatile one. the 11* is useable in ALL conds, the 9* id not take out in rain, or in mid summer humidity as flight isnt that high at times and one of its main attractors is it gets cheat miles on the ground the 11* doesnt. the 9* is ultra tight , stable and electric the 11* is rubbery high and looser. of these 2............ i can usrvie without the 9* but the 11* is special. begs the question of course................ what will the 10* do and with what shaft ? 2022 will answer that im sure........................................,

I played the original PT 6x and thought it was the best GD shaft id ever hit. LOVED it, it suited my swing profile perfectly, just a little softer, little spongier, especailyl vs the orange one matsuyama loves.. didnt lie that at all DJ i think i t was , i got THE perfect flight arc. with a mid to mid high flight , shafted up a callaway ERC3 endo special form a while ago and left back home for my links. LOVE that combo. so if u say this is similar to the DIA X but looks just a tad less torgue , ill be allover that. good graphics too. not being funny but how a shafts looks is important to me as well!

Better........... ? nah, i certainly doubt it. esp if u like that shape head , its pretty specific. ive found it impossible to replicate the "style" of the j-beams, i cant go past the 435, re discoverd a fondness for them again with my new tweeeked swing, hitting them quite a bit higher now but still getting them straight as anything or with a tiny fade, its getting me a lot more carry, and a bit more consistency i simply cant beat that head bec the shape of it suits my eye. My other drivers are just about as good but in a totally different way/ shape, kamui kp..... astro tours... R/C for example are ones id easily game in a big match but its hard for me to not take the 435 when i need to blast a few more on longer tracks esp with a bit of run to them. if ur comfy with the ZY then theres no ther maker doing a better example of that style head . grab another one for play, but if thats the KINGMAKER, not point changing it .

ha well yea.. but then theyd be about $3000 a set

Can pretty much everything i said about these being an old shape, they have a bit of offset that is more than i ususally gravitate to but no gooseenck, just a bit off set , but these are mustard! . they are like a high launching blade , ive just come off the range and explored all their traits again, hit them VS my masda mbs, srixon 945, and prgr tr500s, didnt loose an inch vs them and actally i think these were the softest at impact. yea.. these are the goods. wonderfull bats if u like thin MB but can use just a smidge of relief these are an answer, no doubt about it . The m43 shafts are NOT to be dismissed as fruit either, those things are proper players shafts, they seem to launch on the mid side but the head brings them up , lots of weight in the sole makes the ball soar. The rigidity of the m43 is similar to the NS1050s i think they can but dont prefer to be moved laterally too much , so taking dead aim is a snack, they wont get blown about much. REALLY good "stock" , if u can call them that......... shafts! impact is butter sweet. yup im keeping em ....all over again. original grips (for now!) and all......... not many softer heads have i hit!

took the 6 irons out for.a.sesshy on course with the sp red and cbi today good god really what have i done, favour one over the other??? utterly impossible. i prob get to see as many irons as anyone on the planet in JDM space and im gonna say with unbiased assuredness, there AINT nothing sweeter than these 2 shapes. be it 10yrs old or not. id LOVE both these cos, bit especially. PRGR to do a10th aniversary ltd release of.the tr500s. id take the ever so slight gooseneck out, shorten them up a cpl of. mills and fattem the sole/top line by mill or 2. give them just a hint of more ooomph. the prgrs to me are ever so slightly more dynamic ,more precision to an.exact spot in an area on the green where as the yams are more thump and cut / draw to a widern area on the green. impact goes to the yams. precision goes to the prgr. u kniw what i might ring prgr.and ask if.they can do it.. just for a laugh see what the say...

With the insane distance of the non conf. Rcoll11* and waccine gr88 mini driver i felt another Royal collection super cv 9* head built to 45 x D2 x 323g hi cor as in order i had a diamana X 70siting idle (which is akin to golf build blasphamy) and thought why not, finaly nailed down Mr wizard to get this out ASAP and i picked it up friday night for play yesterday in rainy drizzly s**tty conds, took the 11* one as insurance in case it was too bad but to my surprise i played the 9* one the whole round. There was no run out , it was an all carry day and well for 9* i gota say this shone very very brightly as expected . was not expecting to play it much just hit a buch of drives on a few altitude change holes but actually by adjusting the tee heigh i had no issues al day, realy surprised me for a 9* head The fact the head in olny 390cc and incredibly round full means i can change the flight shape at will by adjusting the tee height, this hits everything with absolute simplicity, high cuts, low raking cuts, few yard draws orwhen i got a few , some super high straights, its not as versatile as the11* but its longer and ican guarantee i will get cheat miles out of it when its dry. non conforming, US model IS, and yep it shows for sure. really good distance and workability for those daysw hen ur NOT playing for sheep sations.... or ur mates $20bux For people that dont prefer ,common or garden ...

2011 wedges were really good. as well... IMO better than the irons of that year , which we re a bit bland... same great feel but... bland.. hit em a cpl of times but not over the prior years. Also the best design of the tour irons to me are prob the 2010s . i just love the "lack of "cavity and the blade like look, but the 09s sabre tootth cats teeth look awsome as well on a small head. dont really matter with them they were (are still) all such great bats. oh almost forgot , t THE wedges by YAM were the raw / black spin monsters. when you get those out of the middle with some head speed and a whippy shaft ala DG spiiiiiiiiiiiiiiin shafts oh lordy lord , just watch the balls come hurling back at you without any skin on the impact zone !

how about these 3 ........... for oldies. yama 09 tours, 2010 prgr tr500, 09 yam inpres x forged mr wizard re built those crazies cbis i got form you nobs with the 2009 tour models a cpl ogf weeks ago had them earmakred for the prgr tr500s but the weight was an issue so the slightly longer , heavier YAMMY tours got the nod , was his decision , tried a 6 iron tester last weekend, annnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnd they wont be headed to anyone else anytime soon! Amazing build , bit lighter and whippier than i was expecting but in a really good way. could move the ball laterally with minimal effort compared to the NS i use. he redid the tr500s with SP red S . THEY wont be going anyhwere soon either! i gave him the choice of epon aftours, ,prgr tr500,callaway tour autehntics ( these were his second choice) ,grindworks Mb-1,honma 737m or the yams, he took the 09 yam tours. impressive build. such a nice impact. he said matter of factly............ YAMAMA tours are one of the best heads hes ever seen, the ones from 08/11 EPON are the best clubs there are end of chat, doesnt matter which model they always come up exactly to spec and he ONLY uses specs as a guide not how they play, EPON are never ,ever out of sync. but he has a thing for old yams, i mentiond nevew models and he screwed his face up stic kt o the old ones .. hahha, ok, so ill stick to the oldies. prgr yam epon honma miz he says are all pretty much spot on ,was WAY more scathing for q cpl of newer models that have come out. which i wont mention. funny not played these in 7 years and now i have 2 sets fully back in the rotation . the 09 inpres X-forged non tours are getting re done with NS modus 120X. for rainy days! My buddy said last night over a cpl of beers "if u just tuck to one set of bats u might just hit a GIR every now and again. " philistine! such is life of a ho!
