PRGR officially made the announcement yesterday http://www.golftoimpress.com/2010/07/new-p...d-forged-irons/ But as I said, there is no guaranteeing that a newer model will out perform the previous model especially in the case of the EGG Spoon where they have completely changed the materials which is what made the first generation Spoon the champion that it is.

Some people have gone with overlapping 7 irons or in most cases they have gone with a fixed set ie 5 6 7 302 and 8 9 PW AF Tour and weakened the lofts 1* on the AF-302 and strengthened the lofts 1* on the AF-Tour to fill the gap. An awesome combo set.

There is no guarantee that the new spoon will be better than the old one. There is no official info out yet on any new Egg spoon or FW. We can only speculate that one will be out in the future since the current Egg has been around a while. When I spoke to PRGR last week, demand for the current EGG's are still through the roof and stock is very low.
-
Stevo I wish they would put it right on the club head but unfortunately PRGR like xxio laser etch the number on the shaft instead. So if you sell the club include the original shaft if reshafted.
-
the heads aren't big... they still have minimal offset but the sole is wider so less prone to digging... they may spin more than the tours thanks to the raw face
-
Hi Bill I just added them to the pro shop here: http://www.tourspecgolf.com/Yururi-Keigeki...r-Seida-Wedge-1 Raw face for even more friction and spin to go with the soft satin body...

Gonna Pull the Trigger Soon on New JDM Irons!
gocchin replied to ihatebogies's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
As you can all imagine its not easy to properly review 10+ irons at once. Without giving too much away, the Yamaha V Forged is more a small to mid sized cavity (some may say mid as size is subjective). The tour model is much smaller. It is very comparable to the 703 and maybe more forgiving due to a touch more offset and maybe a little bit longer head from heel to toe. -
The thing about the Shingo spec Roddio is that it was designed to play at longer lengths like 46.5" which is why the ONOFF head that is paired with that shaft is very light. If you drop down in length to say 45" the swing weight would be too low with that head. I'd suggest going with the superfast if you like it, I wouldn't call it a waste if it performs for you. I'd keep the length up over 45.5" as that's where the Roddio shines.

Gonna Pull the Trigger Soon on New JDM Irons!
gocchin replied to ihatebogies's topic in Japanese Golf Clubs
The ONOFF Plus Forged 2009 model are considered a single digit/athelete model and played by Katayama Shingo, they are not a high handicapper model at all, as the lack the forgiveness and automatic characteristics to be one. they in fact have less offset than the Epon's and a thinner topline. They do have an average golfer/high handicapper model and it's called the ONOFF Red. I'm not that bit a fan of the 703 Limited...I prefer the looks and the performance of the 703 much more and it seems the case as well here in Japan of the consumer. The 703 Limited is much more like a blade and has a much less forgiving sole than the friendly and great performing 703. You definitely have to consider the Yamaha V forged though of the bunch they probably have the largest head and most offset (which is still not that much). S20C and very very good feel but surprisingly probably the most forgiving. Jim is looking at a whole bunch of very good irons, all which could really do the job. It will all come down in the end to what you want head size wise, feel wise and how much forgiveness. I think I am probably giving away too much of my findings in my test... (^_^) -
I actually replied Rob a few weeks ago as Rob emailed me the same questions but I can post here too. Both Crazy and Quadra make great shafts. Top notch carbon and performance. The Quadra Fire Express play about half to a full flex softer than the Crazy depending on which model we are comparing it to. Both are rather low spin however the Quadra will launch a little lower. Technically no Crazy shaft has a LOW launch profile, they are all mid to high launch which is why they create lots of carry and roll out. The Longest Yard and CB80 shafts possess more feel than the Quadra's but the CB50 probably has similar or slightly less feel as it is geared towards balanced control while you can almost say the LY and CB80 are pure distance shafts. The CB50 is probably the most like the Quadra when it comes to performance and trajectory but it is considerably stiffer. I am playing Crazy shafts in my Driver and 7 wood and Utility now and they are the best I have played distance and control wise. I think i will put a Quadra in the Spoon so I can have the best of both since the Spoon launches high which will balance with the Quadra's lower launch.
-
They all of course sound exactly the same... the only difference is the loft. Even the head size is the same. I have a Tour Bassara F53 in my 17* now...but i think an FW80 has to go in.... the FW80 in my PRGR 7 Wood is absolutely deadly to 200y... awesome trajectory and dead straight.
-
I'm surprised the FW80 is very very stout for you... if anything I find the FW80 on the softer side COMPARED to other Crazy shafts. Is it possible it was installed incorrectly. It is designed short so should NOT be tipped for a 3 wood install. Tipping only begins at 5 wood and up. Crazy shafts are also higher launching (but lower spinning).
-
I haven't tried the AF-202 yet so I can't comment on it... but I've tried and tested at least 10+ other FW's and am constantly looking for something to knock out my 17* Spoon... nothing comes close and its still in the bag. I have not tried the 13* Spoon.. I just don't think that low a loft would work for me. It's possible the AF-202HT is the way to go... as for design, it is probably much more forgiving and gives a much better launch. I guess Spoon can comment on that. Have you hit the AF-202 non HT in comparison?
-
Personally I am a huge fan of RC fairway woods, the athlete models do have smaller heads but the crisp but hot feel off the face is one i always love and this carried over to their more forgiving SFDIII model. Right now if I were to bag any fairway woods they would be either RC or PRGR which also have great pop. I haven't had any interest to try the AF-202... your feedback and the feedback of others so far don't make me more curious to do so. (^_^) The AF-201 was a superb feeling club but not forgiving. We'll see how the AF-202 fares as more feedback, both positive and negative come to light.
-
As TSGolfer mention... it is the driver head design. The 440 has the shallowest and highest CG yet of any PRGR driver. In tests in Japan it was constantly picked as the best driver to play in the wind due to its low piercing trajectory. Glad to hear the clubs worked out and hope the score keeps getting lower! (^_^)
-
268 is not bad at all for the Crazy. bogeydog's first SR flex Crazy was 266 and that is a DRIVER. The 80 series is actually the softest of all the Crazy shafts! If it was a longest yard driver shaft X it would CPM close to 280.
-
Actually just to note, the FW's ship relatively quickly but the spoons can sometimes be back ordered as they are still in demand. Also if you custom order a spoon it will take 4 weeks at least.
-
Royal Collection has always made amazing utilities and the current TRC and SFDIII are both very easy to hit high and far. The Yamaha Inpres X DUT is a bit older but is also very good. The Zoom X is very good as well and theres nothing wrong with buying a discontinued utility if it can perform for you at a better price. (^_^)

We have similar swing speeds. The Spoon is very easy to get off the ground. It is a high launching FW as all the weight is pretty much in the sole since the crown face and neck are all lightweight titanium. This creates a very high trajectory ball with a lot of carry which is why the Spoon is a huge distance champ. I'm going to test the Works Foresight but i can't make up my mind to try a 11* or a 17* same as my Egg so I can compare. I honestly doubt I can hit the 44" 11* well but I am very curious.
